Bararach Fyrite inTech 0023-0523 works well since I bought in fall or 2016 to Mid January 2017.

I am a scientist, but not an oil burner tech. I used it to set up a new oil burned boiler. I was not pleased with the oil burner performance as it came out of the box. I think being able to measure CO in near real time is important. The Bararach Fyrite inTech 0023-0523 worked well for me.

I test for soot before use. The desired soot level is a clean burn of 0 or 1 on the soot scale by using the standard pump and white filter paper technique. I first adjusted air intake for slightly too much air to get a clean burn. I tested the draft pressure in the exhaust pipe and the burner chamber (breach) to insure that the pressures were in spec. The pressure in the breach (burn chamber) appears to be slight higher than desired, but after research it appears this is common for my burner. The negative draft pressure in the exhaust pipe was on spec.

Then I used Bararach Fyrite inTech 0023-0523 to monitore the effect of adjusting of the air flow on the oil burner by watching the measured CO, calculated CO2, measured stack temperature, calculated efficiency, etc in near real time (about 10 -20 second delays).. I adjusted the non precision air intake on the oil burner to minimize measured CO levels to less than 30 ppm. I adjusted air intake to minimized CO, watched the CO2 efficiency, and stack temperature come into the expected levels. The goal was to get the new oil burner to meet factory specs provided in their manual. My new oil burner comes real close to factory specs. I am very pleased.
