Exceeded my expectations!
Isabella Valentine - www.IsabellaValentine.com•December 14, 2017
This completely exceeded my expectations! It's very well built, not buggy, and it arrived quickly. There are so many wonderful features to this that I can't even begin to name them all. I love how easy it is to cue audio clips and mix songs together and fade between one and another. A single knob can move between the left song and the right song and back again or mix them at any percentage. A rotating knob scrolls through audio clips silently so you can prepare audio as needed without people hearing it. There are multiple FX that can be turned off and turned on (with automatic fading in/out so it sounds natural) so that we can apply an affect as short or as long as we want. The fades are bomb! Simply tapping the metal part of the jog wheel makes the audio stutter, which I like. It does a superb job when it comes to scratching. Forward scratching and backwards scratching sound ridiculously good. It's very professional and not cheesy. Pitch can be altered with a simple slide bar, and it sounds very professional and gradual, not gimmicky. It is a very intuitive hardware. I had never scratched before this! Now I have a good feel for this.
It comes with Serato DJ Intro which is a trial version that lets you get a good idea of what it can do. If you want to record what you are doing or enjoy more effects, slipping, and other features, you will need to upgrade to pro. Pro is affordable. It is either $99 to buy it or you can subscribe for $9.99 per month. My favorite feature is the Air FX which allows you to wave your hand up to 6 inches away from the touch sensor at the top to blur/mute/distort the sound of parts of the audio. This especially comes in handy in my line of work. I create erotic hypnosis audio recordings, and I like that I can blur/distort words that are *very adult* so that I can share it on social media without offending people. It sounds so much better than a censor beep. I especially enjoy the size of the device, the sturdiness of it, and how WELL BUILT it is! I was so worried that it wouldn't be as intuitive as I'd hoped, but this really is perfect for any beginner DJ or audio artists who want to take their mp3s to the next level. This was a gift for me, and it has so much possibility. I was up and running instantly! Within 12 hours, I had mastered maybe 70% of the features and had put together really intensive projects.
As long as you are comfortable downloading two softwares (the drivers and the trial), this is really easy to use. It's medium weight and can be carried with one hand. The light up features are fun to look at and make it appear more expensive than it actually is. This device could easily be $400 or $500 because of the quality. The person who bought this for me paid $249.99 here on Amazon, and I gotta say, I am very happy with this gift. It is everything I wanted. I wish I had this ten years ago! I'm a fan of the Hercules brand for life now. The manufacturer who built this really knew what they were doing.
I'm trying to think of cons about the device because virtually every product can be improved, but I gotta say I can't think of any off hand. It does everything I want it to and a whole lot more!

Nice features, fun to use

This is a nice little controller with some neat features.
The jogs are quite good and easy to use with a good weight and size.
Feels more like a real dj deck than others the kids have worked with in the past.
The buttons all have LED indicators so it easy to tell what state you're in.
The mixer section is excellent, with FX controls at the top.
. Is just the right weight and easy enough to transport when the kids want to go jam at a friend's house.Overall a very solid unit.

Very nice AIO DJ controller

The DJControl Jogvision is a nicely designed and implemented All-In-One DJ solution for use with both Serato and VirtualDJ. I had no difficulty with initial setup and was off in running in a matter of minutes. However, I did have a few hiccups where the PC would inexplicably loose connection with the Jogvision and I had to reboot. This occurred roughly 3 times over a 2 week period, however, it hasnt happened since. But I'm still a bit leery of the connectivity and thus the reason for 4 stars.
This is still a very nice controller for the beginner to intermediate DJ.

Awesome, intuitive controller

Build quality is fantastic -- housing feels really sturdy, dials and knobs all turn smoothly but feel heavy duty. Buttons are responsive without being too sensitive. The jog wheels have a satisfying weight behind them and the silver top part has some kind of capacitive touch feature, because merely resting a finger on the top gives you immediate control of the track.
I found the controls on this board are extremely intuitive and well organized, and the LED display on the platters to be really helpful and intuitive for manipulating the track position. The air control feature was pretty neat -- wave your hand over the sensor to get that beat in the bathtub sound distortion. If I were a performer, I could definitely see that being something I'd use, although it feels kind of dumb when there's nobody to impress but your dog.
This controller is also pretty compact (you can see in the photo), it's not much bigger than a large laptop, and it has about that same weight (maybe 5 pounds or so). The knobs and sliders and everything feel pretty sturdy, so I wouldn't have any concerns about putting it in a messenger bag to transport it.
I'm on Windows 10 (64-bit), and everything worked seamlessly for me. As soon as I installed the drivers, the utility popped up to tell me that I needed to update the firmware on the controller, but it handled it almost entirely automatically, and it only took about 30 seconds. Serato (just the free intro level version) took a bit of fiddling to get set up and working, but I didn't have too much trouble with it, and once I had it set up I was able to jump in immediately.

Excellent DJ controller with high quality jog controllers and other high end features

I was excited to try the Hercules DJ Control Jogvision controller. I was immediately attracted to the style of this controller, and it looks just as great in person as it does in the photos. Hercules isn't known for high end controllers, but they make decent stuff, and this is by far the nicest controller I've ever seen or used by Hercules.
I am trying not to go too in depth in this review, but just point out things I especially liked or didn't like. There are plenty of magazine articles that go over all the features in extensive detail. I wanted to do this review from the perspective of someone who has used DJ controllers before, but is not a professional by any means. I do want to stress that this controller is extremely easy to set up and use, and I was having so much fun with it very quickly. You do not have to be an expert to get started, but it does take practice to do really smooth transitions, and the sync feature is mostly to get you started until you learn how to match the songs manually.
First, the setup and installation couldn't be easier. I have both a 2013 retina Macbook Pro and a 2016 Lenovo Ideapad, both with Intel i7 processors. Hercules makes it very clear on the included documentation that AMD processors are unreliable and they cannot recommend them. I'm sure it would still work, but I'd never do a gig with a non recommended CPU. I am happy to report that both the Windows 10 and Mac OS Sierra versions of the software installed and worked flawlessly. So even before I touched the hardware, I had a good experience. Neither of those computers have disc drives, and it was easy to get the software online. Aside from the Hercules drivers, this controller comes with "Serato DJ Intro", a 'lite' version of their famous DJ software. I believe this is the first Hercules controller to work with Serato and even the included version of the software is excellent to get you started using the hardware and start learning how to sync tracks and work with all the effects, samples, etc.
Speaking of the hardware, this controller feels fantastic at this price point. The jog wheels are the stars of the show. The feel heavy and great quality, with LED indicators inside the wheels that sync up with the beat that has been analyzed and matched by the Serato software. The vinyl scratch mode is easy to use and works great. Aside from the jog wheels, I was also impressed by the cue point "drum pads". They feel great and are very easy to set cue points for songs. The software saves these points which is great for when you come back to it at a later time. The effects are basic but useful. The standard high pass, low pass, echo, reverb, and flanger effects are available. The often mentioned "air fx" actually works well, although it's really a novelty feature. It is a low pass filter and cannot be changed that I can tell. You just wave your hand over the top and there are 8 blue LED's that light up to tell you how much of the effect is sending. You can combine up to 3 effects at once per side. The loop feature seems complicated at first because of how the buttons are labeled, but it couldn't be more simple. All you do is press the loop button at the start of your loop, and it automatically loops 8 beats. you can use the buttons to the left and right of the loop button to halve or double the length of the loop. This is great if you want to take a short beat loop and have it underneath another song. You can use the cue feature to sync it up and then fade it in to the main output mix like a pro.
I should mention that the music software doesn't work with DRM songs like itunes music and spotify have, so you will need to have non protected MP3 files. If you ripped your music from CD's, you will be fine. There is a streaming service for DJ's that you can use with the software for 10-20 dollars a month to stream and download songs that work with the Serato software. There is also the ability to upgrade to the full featured Serato software, which has many more features and is definitely recommended if you want to get more serious about getting into DJ work. I haven't looked into other software, and I'm not sure what works with this controller, but the Serato DJ software has been really great. I didn't mention that it's easy to use the large knob in the middle of the controller to select songs and quickly send them to the left or right deck. You don't really need to use the computer much once you get your crates set up and your playlist of songs selected, but you can scroll through thousands of tracks if that's what you want to do. Or you can drag them up on the computer. There's a lot of flexibility.
The last thing I want to mention that stood out to me as someone who has worked in the pro audio industry for a while are the inputs and outputs. They are very consumer grade. It's not a problem, and I noticed minimal noise when I connected to external speakers, but there are no balanced outputs. This could in theory be an issue in a venue that didn't properly mix their lighting and audio electrical, but I'm probably overthinking it. The RCA and 1/8 inch outputs are very common and can be sent to a DI box if there are noise issues or the venue only has 1/4" TRS or XLR inputs. The headphone output is both 1/4 and 1/8 inch which is nice because you can use your standard cheap headphones, or nicer ones. I tried both my iPhone earpods and some beyerdynamic 250 ohm headphones and they both sounded good. You can send cue or mix to the headphones easily with a switch on the front of the controller. I should mention that in addition to the normal output, there is also a "booth output" with a volume control in case you are on a stage or situation where you can't hear the output mix, it just gives you the same mix as the main output, which is a nice feature.
Overall, I am very impressed with the Hercules DJ Control Jogvision. I have used it for hours and hours at a time to get better at it, setting cue points, and mixing songs into each other. I never once had anything crash or music stop playing on its own. I was using my MacBook Pro most of the time, but in the time using my Windows computer, it never had a problem either. I definitely recommend using an Intel based computer, and when you are setting things up and practicing, make sure the CPU light isn't orange or red in the upper right corner when you click setup on the software. I only had it happen on my little Windows computer when it wasn't plugged in, since it was trying to conserve battery life. Since you have to plug the controller in to AC power anyway, you will also want to plug in your laptop.
I know there are much cheaper, and much more expensive DJ controllers on the market right now. For the price, this Hercules model really impressed me and it's been so much fun to dive into this world and spend hours enjoying some of my favorite songs again in a new way, even if I'm the only one listening for now.
