I've never found a drip proof syrup dispenser but this one comes closest.

Since I buy my syrup each Spring in gallon containers this jar provides the convenience of quick and easy use. Our household uses the "˜Golden' or very light flavored syrup for ALL sweeteners. I have two of these and alternate them for when not a lot of syrup is needed... like for coffee, tea, oatmeal, etc. I have noticed that some crystallization occurs along the slide mechanism, but it does not seem to affect its use.

We use a lot of honey and maple syrup--both are usually packaged in mason jars and with kids there is always a mess. Sometimes we use a spoon, and have strings of honey all over the counters, or worse, peanut butter in the honey. Other time I have tried using a honeybear, but they melt in the dishwasher or the microwave. I love these little jars because the zinc cap "chops" the honey off when released, stopping the mess. Also, being glass and metal, they can go in the dishwasher if needed. I can also rinse them off under hot water from the sink without getting water in the spout. Because of the great product and good price, I will buy more of these for my family this Christmas!

Easy to use. Easy to fill and clean

The syrup brand we prefer has a bottle that quickly becomes sticky, so we bought these to use as syrup dispensers instead.

I was shocked when the package arrived because the box that contains the dispensers is TINY. I didn't think it was possible for two dispensers to fit! I had read about the product size in the description, and had also heard the same thing from reviewers, but I was still a little surprised by how small they are. I've included a picture of a dispenser next to the smallest size bottle of Dawn soap for comparison, so you can get a better perspective. The size isn't a problem--I divide our syrup between the two bottles, so that the next dispenser is ready when the first runs out. The small size means they aren't too heavy, and that makes it easy for my kids to use. Obviously, these are made of glass, so they wouldn't work for younger kids. These accomplish the goal we wanted of being able to dispense the syrup without getting sticky hands, but they aren't perfect.

These bottles drip. I would understand and expect for the syrup to drip down the front due to poor pouring technique, but that's not what's occurring. The drips actually occur down the back side, from underneath the handle. The handle stays clean, but the drips were causing sticky rings on the table. To avoid that outcome, I keep the dispenser on a small saucer at all times and rinse it when necessary. Our syrup has to be refrigerated, so we don't have to worry about attracting bugs during storage. If this drippy bottle was stored in the pantry, I would be rinsing the entire bottle and its saucer after every use.

I've read the various reviews about the dripping, and haven't found a way to make it stop. Even with the drips, I would probably buy these again. They are small, easy to use, and make it possible to dispense syrup without getting it on your hands. If your dispensers will be stored somewhere accessible to bugs, and you don't have time to thoroughly rinse it after each use, you may want to consider other options.
