I've used Edlund can openers (#1 and #2) for over 20 years and never had an issue of any kind. I just got a new #2 for home use and I'm delighted with the improvements they have made. It is definitely worth paying for the real thing instead of getting a problematic knock off. The Edlund can openers are spendy but I'll never again have to deal with the frustration of the cheap little can openers that don't work or break just when you need them.
