This is an excellent tool. Does a great job of catching virtually all of the drywall dust. As a side note, be sure to run your 6" bit very slowly. If you hit a joist or twist the bit off axis, the drill will kick back hard enough to throw you off the ladder. Be careful!

This worked perfect to cut holes in the ceiling for my new recessed lighting. the bowl seems a little rigid when just holding it but when you put it on the ceiling and start cutting it flexes perfectly. Home Depot shows they carry this item but they don't.

It's clear enough to see what you're doing. Even better, it's soft and pliable enough that you could even turn it completely inside out to get the drill where you want, then turn it right side out to get it over the area to catch the dust. It collapses while drilling, all the while keeping the rim against the surface. Very happy with the way it keeps dust where it's supposed to. I would recommend washing with soap and water if you're having trouble seeing after cutting, first tapping out the dust into a trash bin.

This product definitely performs as advertised - having put in can lights in one room without and another room with this product, the mess was massively reduced in the second room. One star removed for the quick decline in clarity of the plastic. This started out transparent, but within two holes was significantly cloudy. We may have made it worse by attempting to clean with windex - I would not recommend. Try dish soap and water and dry thoroughly.

Although picture is blue, actual product is clear. I would not say clear like glass but a slightly cloudy clear when brand new. After drilling your first hole in drywall, expect the transparency to reduce a little due to scratches, smudges, etc. caused by dust and from cleaning. This reduction in transparency makes it slightly more difficult to line up your drill/hole saw to your cutting mark. I have gotten around this issue by first drilling a pilot hole that is the same diameter as the pilot drill bit on my hole saw and then using this as the primary guide for my hole saw with pilot drill bit and dust shield combo. This product works great at containing dust while drilling. I am only giving 4 stars versus 5 due to the transparency issue. It is not clear to me however whether or not there are even any other hole saw dust shields on the market that do not have the transparency issue that this product has.
