Worked for what I used it for. I made a "fake" fireplace with cardboard boxes and polystyrene. I used the heat gun to melt the polysterene bricks to make it look more like the rough texture of brick. The heat gun in a video I watched worked better. I used the higher setting and had to move it over one brick a few times. But I was happy with the results

This heat gun is awesome! I've used other more expensive heat guns and this one didn't feel any different. I was a little nervous about how cheap this was but, it is such a great gun! I did see a review from another person where the gun melted. Maybe they kept the gun running throughout their entire project. This gun does get very hot but, the on and off button is easy to switch off and on when using it.
I wouldn't recommend keeping it on the whole time unless you're using it. It gets extremely hot so you should only have it on when you're actually applying heat to something. If you need it to run non-stop for long periods of time, maybe you need a different tool for the job.

I purchased this product for fixing imperfections in my candles as I hand make soy candles. The heat gun did better than I expected and gets extremely hot... I'd say it got up to easily 200 degrees and I only used it on low setting! I definitely do not recommend for children use as my kids like to help me but it was too hot for them to handle. The plastic handle part gets warm but not unbearable, however, the metal part is extremely hot to the touch and I only used it approx. up to one minute at a time. I laid it on its side but don't recommend it because it started to smoke, I believe because the ventilation on the one side was covered so I just held it until I was finished. Once I was done, I unplugged it and let it cool off a bit and then laid it on its side to finish cooling. Overall, I'm more than satisfied especially for the price! I just got it today so I hope it holds up and the quality is as good as I think it is!!!

*****FIRE HAZARD - WARNING***** I bought this to do a few pieces of heat shrink tubing. I turned it on. It made a rattling sound, shot sparks and a ball of flame out the end and caught on fire in my hand. I'm glad I was wearing work gloves. It then made a loud pop and threw the circuit breaker to my house. I went to Lowe's and bought a real one, I'm glad no one got hurt and this didn't start a fire in my house. I can't return it because the window expired yesterday. It sat in the box three weeks until I could start my project but all of the above happened the first time I plugged it in. Unbelievable. Thanks Amazon.
This + WD-40 + plastic knife = bumper sticker removal.

I read a review here before buying it that it helped them remove old bumper stickers. Well, it does! (with some chemical help and a plastic knife)
My stickers were nearly 10 years old and this gun made it so easy to get them off. I plan to use it for other projects and crafts, but it gave my car new life. It even works on glass! If you're in my situation, don't hesitate and get it!
