Look Nice, Don't Function Well
Kori✓ Verified Purchase•December 14, 2016
While we love the look of these candles, we were hoping for them to perform much better than they do! The light is good and they stand up well, but that's all I have for "likes". The timer function is, thus far, extremely flawed. After turning on 12 candles at the same time to place in our windows, on day 2 only about half turned back on. We made the necessary adjustments. But since then, the actual timing of the timers is off. Some come on right at 5 as we set them, some don't come on until 5:30 or later, others turn on early around 4:30. For the amount of money we paid for the candles, they should certainly function much better!
It would be nice to have the ability to choose exactly what time to turn on and how long you'd like them on - 5 hours is less than we would choose but these seemed like the best option on the market at the time.
Buy these if you don't mind constantly having to fix them!

Major improvement over extension cords and timers...with an update
Rusty B✓ Verified Purchase•December 5, 2016
After years of extension cords and timers, we found these battery-operated, self-timer candle sticks for our windows during the Christmas season. What an improvement! We ordered 12 candles. All work as expected. We inserted the batteries in all 12 then turned the switches on together so they would start and end at the same time. Five hours later they shut off.
They are not as bright as the corded candles but they can easily be seen from the street giving the desired look. The yellow tint is not noticeable, neither is the flicker. We have since ordered another set of 4 for our side windows. While we have only used them a week now, they have worked flawlessly. Obviously we can't tell yet how long the included batteries will last but they are alkaline, not heavy duty which is the first time I recall any vendor including alkaline.
Post Christmas update: All the lights are still running on the original batteries but after looking at them more from the street, they are not as bright as I first thought. They can be seen from the street, but clearly don't light up the window. Also, we bought 16 lights, and we have a couple of problem ones that require monitoring and twisting the bulb to get them to come/stay on.

One candle defective...?
cdemx✓ Verified Purchase•November 28, 2016
I just received these today, easy to set up and love the candles however only 3/4 of the candles actually work. I tried to screw the top on differently, clean the inside and put the batteries in again and the candle to the farthest right in the photo will not light up anymore than this. I don't want to return the whole package as the rest are fine... but I'm kinda disappointed and I'm hoping I can get a replacement one?
Fine....when they work!
Dah Leng✓ Verified Purchase•November 28, 2016
Just got two boxes (8 total candles) today. First, the directions were incorrect. Found out later they are old directions. Had to fiddle around with them a bit, but got all four to work. Opened the second box and it was totally a different experience. Could not get any of them to work for awhile. Finally got two to work. But not sure they will stay working. Called the company. Very quick to say they will send replacements. These are cheap plastic, but from a distance they are fine for me and they are fine when they WORK! I'm hoping they will be reliable. Color is more white than orange. Lightweight overall. Happy with customer service....as long as the replacements show up!
Dim, and finicky, but at least they're not orange.

The lights are, I was glad to find, not orange as some reviewers had stated theirs were. And at first, I was pleased with them. However, once set up, and upon arriving home the next night, I was surprised at how dim they were from the street. Next to the other houses on the block, these look like they're barely trying. I was content to keep them anyway since they were affordable, but once the timers began failing, I gave up on them and returned them. Some of them come on at random times, and don't turn off at other times.
You should know that the method to set the timer is to push the on/off switch IN until the light blinks. This sounded simple enough, but was extraordinarily difficult, and we had three relatively strong and dextrous people in their early 40s working on them. We finally discovered that a AAA battery pushed in on the switch can help. Also, there is felt on the base of each candle but not all of them were applied evenly, causing some to be especially prone to topple.
