Grip at end of handle is glued on but not very well. As another reviewer said theirs came off - so I tested mine as soon as I got it....sure enough with a few twists the grip started to come off. The lanyard is merely glued to the wooden handle as well. I re-glued the grip to the wooden handle with silicone and put a screw with flat washer thru the end to hold it and a new webbing lanyard. Now is nice gaff!

poorly made...they just hot glued a hook on the end of a stick and mine is at the bottom of the Tenessee River because it came off the first time I tried to get a big catfish in the boat.
