I purchased this on Prime Day as a loaner rod. I ordered the 5wt 8 1/2 ft model. The rod is very nicely constructed. The cork is better than expected for the money and the alignment dots are all perfect. The rod is a moderate-fast action that is suitable for beginning and more experienced anglers alike. I took this out to catch some stocker trout just to try it and I was really impressed. It's soft enough for more delicate presentations, accurate enough for sight fishing and it has just enough backbone to land a bigger fish or buck a little wind. If you're just wanting a good rod and you're not worried about showing off, then I see no reason why this couldn't be your primary rod. I think it's going to be my go-to when I'm fishing smaller rivers. This thing really is a little gem.

The ROD is excellent and that is what you are buying when you purchase this. As far as I can tell with out it up it is a fast action rod with magority of the bend towards the tip.

The REEL is nothing to brag but it is not a bad reel. My fly fishing consist of bass and bluegill so a top of the line reel is not something I would know how to describe. It does a great job holding the line and the drag sound is nice and audible.

The fly LINE is probably the reason it go on sale for 50% ocationaly. It has way to much memory. Now if you don't know what that means, neither did I until I asked what was happening. The fly line doesn't lie down flat. For every part of the line it curls and is a pain. After spending many hours fishing with this memory line I desided to buy a cheep line until I deside I'm ready to buy the Orvis bank shot line I really want to perfect the set.

I have been eyeing this combo for some time to use for inshore fishing. The sale price is unbeatable! I got the 9wt salt water and it casts relatively good for the price. My only complaint is that the lines don't come with welded loops. I had to weld it myself, which didn't take long, but it would have gotten that extra star if it did come pre-welded. Nit-picky I know, but it's the little things. I also ordered a 5wt for my son for the price. Despite my tiny complaint, I would DEFINITELY purchase these before they are gone.
