Found my neighbor using our water to fill buckets and wash up along with washing his case. We could not understand why our water bill was climbing each quarter especially since we have not been using it much the last year. When it arrive on time my husband screwed it on then locked it. The next day he inspected it since we had been out all day after installing this. He found that someone tried to use the water as when he unlocked and unscrewed it from the faucet it had water in it. We never had a problem with the faucet leaking in 17 years so we know it's not that. A few days later he went outside and saw the cement was wet. It's obvious the neighbor is still trying to figure out how to get water. Hope he gets soaked but now we are looking into security cameras to prosecute the trespasser and piece of garbage for stealing our utilities.

Home during a recent unemployment I heard someone using my outside faucet. It was one of the groundskeepers (I live in an HOA) using my outside faucet. I have been hearing from the city that my water usage is high, so I decided to try one of these. Simple design. There are "inner" and "outer" parts to the lock. The inner has a thread and rubber gasket. The outer has the lock assembly. The instructions show how to visually identify whether the inner and outer are locked together or not. If necessary use the key to lock the inner and outer parts together. Then, having visually verified they are locked together, thread it firmly tight onto the faucet, no need to go full gorilla. Just firm. Then, using the key again, rotate the lock 180 degrees and remove the key. Now the outer part spins freely around the inner part, blocking someone from filling containers or attaching the hose. Some of the reviews complained of dust negatively impacting the lock assy. I plan to remove it periodically and clean it as necessary to counteract that problem.
Locks work great! If you have hard water use an anti-seizing grease for longevity of locks.

Using this lock on my two outside hose spigots. My bill went through the roof! I had to buy them because I live in a ranch condo community that still has construction going on. Construction workers from nearby units being built were helping themselves to my water to clean all of their concrete equipment, buckets, tools, themselves, etc., when I was at work. They are supposed to use water from units still owned by builder. The builder would not reimburse me without video proof. The locks are a cheaper fix. They work great the construction workers moved on to another victims spigots. A bit of advice if you have hard water add a little bit of anti-seizing grease to the threads of your spigot and that will prevent it from getting stuck due to calcium and metal to metal reaction.

We live in a new subdivision with a couple houses under construction. One day during work, I pickup video from my Ring door bell camera and saw one of the rough looking framers from the house next door walking down my drive way with his shirt off, mullet flowing in the breeze, prison tattoo's on display, and empty cooler in hand. He proceeded to disconnect my water hose on the side of my house and helped himself to our water. While the cost of the water is negligible, I don't want people in my yard and technically this is stealing. Since on-going construction will continue, I saw this on amazon and immediately pulled the trigger for all 4 spigots. They are very easy to use and had zero issue with removing/re-installing. When locked, the piece spins freely, so it can't be removed with out a key. It costs more for the locks than the water that could can be stolen, but I wanted this issue 100% put to bed. The reason I gave the product 4 stars is because I ordered 4 locks keyed the same , but was sent only 3 keyed the same. Wasn't worth the trouble to send these back. Amazon will need to shore this process. Regardless, product works as advertised.

For the price, this little lock provides a lot of peace of mind. I live right in front of a park and have homes being built around me. I've caught a few contractors plugging into our electricity and taking water while they work. I'm sure that the sight of this lock alone has deterred people from trying to take water from the house. It screws on easily, and with the turn of the provided key, will not twist off the faucet. The bottom is solid so water can't pour out while the lock is engaged. As an item that prevents water theft, this is about as easy as it comes.
