LOUD!!!
Choppahead✓ Verified PurchaseFebruary 21, 2018
This thing is so ridiculously loud I had the manager of my condo was calling within 5 min of first use to ask me what the hell I was doing. it sounded like the building was falling down... and this condo is all concrete construction! Unless I got a bad unit, this thing is useless for condo or apt use... Returning mine
Very pleased with this trainer purchase

Very pleased with this trainer purchase. I did quite a bit of research between this unit and the CycleOps fluid 2 trainer and it worked out well. Set up was easy - I watched a video online just to make sure that I did it correctly. The trainer is very well built and solid. It holds the bike securely and I have no concern for tipping this unit over. The trainer provides plenty of resistance and it is reasonably quiet. Pedaling is smooth and it provides good response as you accelerate. I also purchased Garmin speed and cadence sensors to use with Zwift. I did not purchase the inRide Power Meter since I have had issues with bluetooth pairing on my computer and there were a number of bad reviews on Amazon regarding pairing the sensor.
Top-quality fluid trainer

At first, I had quite a problem fitting my bike into the trainer. This is no fault of the trainer, I'm just saying it has an initial learning curve to get the hang of. I can fit my bike onto it quite easily now after doing it a couple times.

Tip: as you move the roller outwards to fit your bike, it will seem to stop moving at some point and your bike may not fit. Keep twisting the knob and it will open up to accommodate your back wheel.

I did not have to assemble the trainer in any way, but if you get one where the legs are unattached or something, I imagine it is a simple assembly.

As far as noise is concerned, I have hardwood floors and don't have a mat underneath the bike/trainer. I can use it in the living room while my girlfriend watches a movie and it doesn't bother her at all. If you're going to purchase this trainer, I would recommend holding off on a mat until you try it for yourself to check the noise level.

Overall, it's great. Compact, well-made, quiet and, being a fluid trainer, self-adjusting.

Some reviewers state this trainer is loud, others say quiet. Fact is the Kinetic Road Machine 2.0 is much quieter than previous trainers I've rode but it's not quiet. I'm able to watch TV but with the volume turned up more than normal. It's not so loud to wake up everyone in the house. It does have a realistic road feel but I find the trainer more difficult than riding the road. As an example, on the road I am able to maintain a 20 mph average speed over a 20 mile relatively flat course. On the trainer, thus far, my best speed over the same distance was an 18 mph average. Getting the trainer into the mid 20's feels like a sprint. The faster you go on the trainer the more resistance you feel. "Riding into the wind" is an accurate description. I'll be curious to see if my speed increases on the road after a winter of training on my Kinetic. Overall I love the trainer, it's construction, ease of setup and operation. Just so you know the Road Machine 2.0 comes completely assembled. All you need to do is fold out the legs, replace your rear wheel skewer, and mount the bike. There are YouTube videos if you want to see the simple setup before purchasing. It doesn't come with a front wheel riser (which I highly recommend) so make sure you include that in your purchase.
Very solid unit! Easy to assemble.

After having used this trainer for a few months almost on a daily basis for 60 to 120 minute rides, I am pretty happy with it.

One word of caution, don't get too crazy on this unit, which i just recently did going pretty hard on my bike, which actually caused the unit to start to come over, but it really was my fault! Just mentioning it so you are aware. After at least 100 hours of constant training on this Kinetic trainer, i have had zero problems, other than the "operator initiated issue" as previously noted.

I am pretty happy with my trainer.
