This is awesome! I'd never heard of it until I saw ...

This is awesome! I'd never heard of it until I saw Nigella Lawson use it in one of her cooking shows & called it "one of Great Britain's greatest culinary contributions to the world." She was so right. I'll never use corn syrup or maple syrup again. I've become addicted to it. I pour it on everything I used to use the more expensive maple syrup on and I like the the toasted brown sugar flavor better than the stronger maple. Even though it's made out of cane sugar, it tastes less "sweet" than corn syrup or maple syrup. I'll never be without it, and Amazon sells it for a good price.
IT REALLY IS THAT GOOOOOOOD!

Absolutely delicious, decadent product. We've been too intent on eating it on pancakes, biscuits and with peanut butter to actually cook with it, but I do look forward to using it in a pecan pie and oven baked winter squash. It is a product that makes your imagination and creativity soar. I may never use maple syrup or corn syrup again. Hint: I purchased this product again but opted for the pack of 4-tins instead. I realize the 16oz tins are awkward, but at close to 1/2 the cost, I simply opened a tin and emptied a portion into one of the original plastic containers and the other part into my newly re-purposed syrup dispenser. A win-win for a great product. You will not be disappointed with Lyles golden syrup, it is sublime and you will have fun experimenting with it in your own old familiar dishes.
I thought gluten was a bad thing to avoid

Sooooooo very thankful for the availability of this product on Amazon! Since my hubby was diagnosed with Celiac's several years ago, all 3 of our daughters have followed with the same problem. But, in addition to the gluten issues, our oldest daughter & her youngest daughter, now, can't have 'corn'. And, I thought gluten was a bad thing to avoid!!! Ha!!! Trying to avoid corn is horrid!
Since discovering this alternative, I have experimented with pecan pie, peanut brittle, & a treat our family is fond of called peanut butter chewies. By substituting Lyle's syrup for corn syrup, 1 for 1, & although there is a bit of a difference in flavor, these were successful! Although these things are not 'necessities', it is nice to be able to have a 'treat' for holidays & other special occasions.

Delicious on oatmeal

If you haven't tried Lyle's Golden Syrup yet - what are you waiting for? It's really good on oatmeal (especially McCann's or Bob's Red Mill) McCANN'S Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal, 28-Ounce Tins (Pack of 4)Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats, 24-ounce (Pack of 4)or Cream of Wheat or any hot cereal instead of brown sugar. Probably good on other things, too, but I use it for hot cereal. I think it's made from cane sugar, so it has a lighter flavor than maple syrup. It used to only come in a tin, where you pried the lid off, and after the first use, it was a sticky business getting that lid off again! These plastic squeeze bottles are a much better idea.
Perfect for marshmallows

I love this stuff for marshmallows!! It gives another level of flavor (slightly carmel-y). Add that to the unbleached cane sugar & vanilla bean paste I use, and I can never make white marshmallows again, but I'm not sorry! I'm ordering again to make sure I have some on hand at all times.
