Best workout you can get on a bike.
Frank V•July 12, 2017
This bike has become an essential part of my daily routine. I've actually been using one for almost two years at my local HIIT studio fitness gym and fell in love with it there. Now I have one of my own so I can use it when I want, which is just about every day.
There's nothing quite like it. Resistance increases the faster you pedal. There is no coasting. It's a workout from the first pedal to the last. And it's super simple. Some might be put off because of this. There is no fancy full color screen or online coaching programs. Just the important information you need to monitor your work...time, calories, MPH, watts (watts are what you should be watching actually..it's the best indicator of how much work you're actually doing).
It also has several simple programs built in including interval training, distance, calories, and heart rate (it will pair with a heart rate monitor if you have one). I like the interval programs. They say interval training is the best for your overall well being. I've taken to doing the 10-20 (that's 10 seconds work hard and 20 seconds rest) in the morning. You go through it 8 times which is a total of 4 minutes. I burn about 50 calories in that 4 minutes and I really feel it when I'm done. If you do interval training right and push as hard as you can during the intervals, you will get to that "breathless" state where the magic happens.
The bike was super easy to put together. I followed along with the video they have on YouTube and it probably took me all of 20 minutes. There are actually very few parts for you to assemble, and it's super helpful that all the screws are already in the holes that you'll tighten them in.
Some have mentioned issues with the seat and that's a very individual thing. For me (at 5'5" and 140 lbs) the seat is fine. I'm certainly not going to spend more than 20 minutes on there anyway.

Had it for a while now. Took a little adjusting to get it where I wanted it. Found I can't set it up like my road bike, it's just not comfortable that way. So, after I have it set up to the way that I need it. I use it daily. I did order the wind screen because it's just too much at times

This piece of equipment has made training that much better. As a female I was able to put the bike together in 30 minutes alone, the instructions were easy to understand and tools are included. I am not extremely handy and often fear putting things together alone. I think that this bike is amazing, it is sturdy yet easy to move. It is very user friendly...if you cant figure out how to make this bike work you have bigger issues in life.
The bike is literally indestructible and I love that I can have clients(as a personal trainer) jump on to warm up or use it in their workouts as a way to keep their heart rates EXTREMELY high. If you are debating between this and another piece of equipment...buy the Assault bike. Have fun getting fit!

It seems a bit more sturdy than my 25 year old Air Dyne

It seems a bit more sturdy than my 25 year old Air Dyne. The work out is more effective but my old bike was 25 and probably a bit worn. But as many have remarked the seat is awful. It seem to have been designed for a 30 year old cross training proctologist. I had already purchased a replacement before the bike arrived.
One thing that the Air Dyne had which the Assault does not was a screw down brake that immobilized the fly wheel. That was a good safety device.
