Terrible. The nose piece isnt right!
Kindle Customer✓ Verified Purchase•July 20, 2017
Horrible. We have holts, haltis, and gentle leader head halters. They are Wonderful! This HALTI is terrible. The band is bigger 1st, fine. What makes tgis terrible is the nose piece. It has something like a piece of ribbon sewed onto the main body. Then the nose piece is no longer attached to the rest of the halter. So it slides sideways all over my dogs nose.
I noted this when I was fitting it to my dog. However, I like to give the benefit of the doubt. When we went for a walk, I felt terrible for my dog. The nose piece kept going sideways and up near her eye.
I was going to return this but Amazon doesn't have a return because the product s*cks reason.
I don't think I have ever left a 1 star...

Halti vs. Gentle Leader
Amazon Customer✓ Verified Purchase•July 8, 2017
We have a 120lb 4yo purebred German Shepherd male. He is by no means overweight and is much larger than most in his breed. Our problem with walking him is that he loves to chase birds and squirrels. A head collar gives us more control and diverts his attention back to walking when he gets excited and wants to chase something during a walk. I know the Halti is supposed to be a temporary learning tool, but our dog will need a head collar forever because he is so much easier to control this way than trying to keep him from chasing something with just his collar. We have been using a Gentle Leader with him for a long time and it has seemed to work great. My fiancé loves the simplicity of it and control it gives us with our easily excitable dog. I recently became aware of the Halti head collar and wanted to try it out vs. our Gentle Leader. We opted for the large Halti due to his size (by breed Halti recommends a medium).
Gentle Leader Cons: thin straps with no padding that leave a mark (not a sore or cut, just a visible mark) on my dogs snout- doesn't seem to hurt him, but worries me. He can occasionally slip the nose piece off by rubbing his head on the ground (same with Halti). The snout strap comes really close to his eyes when he pulls in the oppsite direction of me (I would say more so than the Halti).
Gentle Leader Pros: more control. Comes in many colors. Our dog cannot move the clip that adjusts the snout piece.
Halti Cons: our dog can move the clip that goes under his chin to adjust the snout piece by opening his mouth really wide. Although I think this is just due to the face that for him to comfortably pant and drink it needs to be all the way down anyways, I still think this is something Halti needs to fix. This clip needs to be stronger. He also rubs his head on the ground and can get the snout piece off (same with a Gentle Leader too though).
Halti Pros: by far outweigh the cons and the features of the Gentle Leader to me. Being 5'1" and not outweighing my dog by much the additional strap around the neck and backup clip that attaches to the collar gives me more control and reassurance. It has a much wider and cushioned strap on the snout that I feel is probably more comfortable for my dog- it does not leave a mark like the Gentle Leader. I also like the sliding pieces the connect the snout strap to the head strap. They also add support and control and help keep the snout strap away from his eyes (the strap still goes close to his eyes if he's being crazy and wants to chase something, but for regular walking works great- Gentle Leader does the same thing).
While I think my fiancé would prefer the gentle leader, being smaller and more simple, he also is bigger and stronger than I am to be able to control our dog. For me, I think the Halti provides more control and requires less effort for me to feel confident and in control if our dog decides to try to chase something while walking. This is the longest product review I've ever written, but with a large breed dog with lots of energy it is hard to find good products and good reviews to help me make decisions on the best products for my dog. So I hope this helps someone else!

FINALLY a solution!

I was hesitant about getting this and putting any more money into something that wouldn't work for my *extremely* strong-pulling dog. This actually worked like a charm.
My labradoodle is pretty good about training, except when it came to pulling on the leash. I swear, she could pull me down if I wasn't paying 100% attention. I tried everything from keeping her on an extremely short leash to the choke collar, and nothing worked. With both, she was nearly choking herself without ever realizing why. With this head collar, she knows it's her fault for pulling and she stops immediately.
The only thing I haven't quite worked out is when she gets excited. When she sees other dogs or people, she wants to run up to them so badly, but this collar stops her from doing it. However, she will thrash around so much and tangle herself up in the leash. She's a puppy, so I'm sure it's just her being overly excited, but beware - it doesn't stop from your dog freaking out, JUST from pulling.
If you're at your wits end with your dog pulling you during walks, seriously get this. Just follow the instructions about introducing the collar with treats, and it will work like a charm.

Honest review from a Rescue who uses about 120 -150 of these a year

As a Rescue we utilize this training tool often. First let me say that this product is Awesome. The design of the Halti Opti Fit is by far superior to all the other companies/brands. Having the side cheek straps where they can move (not in a fixed position) eliminates the issue of a dog pulling so hard or quickly that the snout piece turns around on the nose so hard that it could ride up into the eye area. The extra security of the chin strap connecting back to the collar is a great design idea. There are always some clever pups who figure out how to paw at the snout strap and can get them off the end of the nose. I urge everyone to read the directions and watch the video to make sure you know how to properly adjust the head halter. Make sure there is plenty of room for your dog to open their mouth and pant. The only CONS to this head halter is in the cam lock under the chin. We have had about 5 out of 20 to break. The plastic used is just not as durable as the rest of the materials. We are a large breed rescue, mainly German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Labs and some Great Danes. Most of our dogs use the Medium size comfortably. The snout strap is padded and much more comfortable than other brands. The nylon webbing is strong and very flexible. The tri glide placed after the plastic snap lock holds the excess strapping in place well. I still recommend checking the entire head halter to ensure proper fit and for any damage each time you put it on, for the safety and comfort of your dog. Even with the occasional cam lock breaking we love this product way above and beyond the other brands. The cam lock is a very useful feature to this head halter as it allows for the user to adjust the snout strap ( ideally it will be snug enough that it will not pull off the end of the snout, BUT loose enough that the dog can open their mouth, eat, drink, and pant comfortably.) If the cam lock breaks, the head halter is atill usable. I give it 5 stars for usability, comfort, and design. I give 4 stars for the poor craftsmanship (matetial the cam lock is made out of). If the company can fix the cam locks, source the material from somewhere else, etc. This product would get a solid 5 star rating from us. We purchase about 120-150 a year. Even with the few that do break, we still recommend this product over all the other brands. We do not get any kind of incentives, discounts, or anything from the manufacturer of this product for any reason.
Made very well, but not a miracle fix

I adopted a 50lb boxer/pit mix and after 8 months of trying to train her on a leash with a regular slip collar or harness I decided my hands and arms needed some thing to keep her from pulling so hard. Growing up we used a halti on my malamute and it worked well so i decided I would give it a whirl with this pup. I researched and went with this halti because my husband was already worried about all the leashes and collars and harnesses we had been trying and all the money going to things that were not working. The price was great and it has great reviews. After using it for about 2 weeks I'd have to say it hasn't stopped the pulling 100% and she doesn't walk like the dog on the package but the pulling has slowed down and it is making training easier. I'm only giving it 4 stars because the the clasp under the muzzle that tightens that strap never stays where I adjust it too. By the end of the walk the clasp is back at the bottom not snug around the muzzle. Maybe it's because my dog pulls too hard, but I liked the old halti I had for my previous dog and had a ring instead of a clasp that would tighten when the dog pulled and loosen when it the dog was walking properly. I'm no expert at dog training by any means but that clasp is very frustrating to me. Other than that it has saved my arms from being yanked out and has helped me be more patient on walks with my pup. I like the padded strap over the muzzle even if my dog pulls so hard it twists some times at least it is padded and not rubbing on her muzzle. And overall it's made with good strong material, minus the clasp in my opinion. Obviously you need to be sure to continue training but it has made our walks much much better. Overall a good buy and I would buy one again probably.
Update 8/10/2016
The plastic clasp broke today on our walk. I went to adjust it on my dog after putting it on and the plastic broke. Which makes me very upset and now I don't think I'll buy this one again. I'd recommend a halti with a metal ring under the muzzle rather than a cheap plastic adjustment piece. I'm rather disappointed.
