Does what it should
A simple enough device that if you had the right things lying around the house you could make yourself but at this price point, you might as well simply buy this if you don't. One of the handles on mine didn't have the rope strung through both holes (which, oddly, is also true of the one in the picture) and although it was safe I was paranoid about it coming through and causing my arm to drop abruptly. Believe me, a total shoulder replacement is painful enough on its own. It was very easy to restring it, so I did and I recommend that you do too.
Same one as physical therapy.

I didn't want to continue my physical therapy, because I could do most of the exercises at the gym and save some money. I picked this up because I am not sure my gym has one. Aside from the fact that the PT place has it mounted high on the wall of a ceiling way higher than my house, this is the same one they have. All I have to do is sit in a lower chair and roll the handles around the rope a little so that I can get the same height from one side while lowering the other side to the height I am used to.
It doesn't offer resistance, but that is not what this is used for. It is only for raising and lowering an arm that has had a shoulder injury. If you want resistance, there are products made specifically for that.

Just what I needed to regain movement in shoulder.

I am trying to regain movement in my shoulder after rotator cuff surgery. My therapist asked if I had a pulley at home. I ordered this one and love it for a variety of reasons. I like the hook over the door. It stays on the door with no problem. I don't have to take it up and down. This would be difficult since I am quite short and my right arm doesn't reach up very high yet. I also like the swivel so that no matter what I do with the pulley it is facing the right direction. The string is quite long. I can hold it any way I want and there is more than enough string to do the movement.
Works well. Great price.

After being involved in a serious motorcycle accident, where my shoulder was badly injured, my physical therapist started me using this same item in therapy. He recommended I purchase one for use at home. Through them the cost was $47. The exact same item through amazon was $10+. It works well helping to get my range of motion back.
Perfect for stroke recovery/physical therapy

I purchased this item for my mom. She had a major stroke and is unable to move her right side. This item allows her to exercise the paralyzed right arm. She can pull with her left hand and raise and lower the right arm. By properly securing the right hand to the handle, mom can do the rest. The pulley fits over our door and has a foam protector to prevent and scratches. Overall this is a very great item for anyone in need of exercise or physical therapy. You can adjust the rope length if needed.
