Wii Board is the problem!! Not the disc!! Simple Fix in my Feedback, Board is Wonderful now!
Dawn4tayJanuary 22, 2018
The reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because of what I went through to try and get it to work. I put the Wii Fit Plus disk in and synced the board to the console. I went through the steps to add my bday and height. Then a "step off" message and press "a" button kept popping up. First thoughts was the disk, because it was second hand. The board was new. So, I took the disc back and exchanged. Got the new second hand disk and it happen again. The same message popped up. So I went online to see if anyone else had that same issue. Well they had! The instructions were clear but come to find out not so very clear. I am an IT Technician and so I figured it out. After unscrewing the four legs and popping off the sensor, there is a silver Star screw. This is too tight!! I took one of the Allen wrenches and untighten them all. I didn't screw it completely off and once I did it to all of them , the screen for the game continued!! It started to recongize the board!! So , I had already did a return for the board for the next day. I cancelled it because now the board is working wonderfully!!
Successfully translates physical fitness into video games
XT-8147December 23, 2017
I'm a gamer, and I needed to lose weight. While physical activity is only half of the battle, I was basically not active in the slightest. I bought this along with a Wii U and two Wiimotes, hoping that its format of short workouts that you get graded on would help. As it turns out, that method worked quite well for me. Games have a few different methods of measuring the player's success, whether it's high scores, fast times, star rankings, or whatever else. This game uses these methods of measuring success to translate physical fitness into video games. The gamer mindset makes you want get better scores, times, and rankings; and doing so requires doing the exercise better, and therefore burning more calories. It's a trick, but it worked wonders for me.

The fit meter is also a nice idea. It promotes being active even when you're not playing the game, and the activity it logs can be synced with the game to unlock in-game outfits and hats for your Mii. I implemented a daily walk around my neighborhood to get some extra exercise and log activity with it. It's very comfortable to wear, I wear it all the time and generally forget that I have it on. The battery it uses is a CR2025, and it lasted nearly a year for me before needing to be replaced. When replacing the battery, sync your fit meter data first! The fit meter also seems to be made of Nintendium, as it's survived several drops from my waist to the floor, and even fell down the steps a couple times. Heck, I even accidentally dropped it in the toilet once. Dried it off and it still works.

There are downsides, though. The game is adamant that you weigh in every day, which is far too often. For me, weekly was still too often; I'm currently weighing in monthly and that works well. Weighing in too often will wreak havoc on your mental health. You absolutely don't want to begin treating food like numbers and calorie goals like quotas, nor do you want to develop an eating disorder. However, if your weight goes up by 1.1lbs or more, it tries to make you associate that gain with something you did in the last 24 hours, giving you a rather short-sighted set of eight choices, seven of which are iffy at best and the last one is "I don't know". Selecting "I don't know" usually results in the game saying, almost verbatim, "Do you really not know?", which implies that it thinks you're constantly trying to cheat on your own physical fitness regimen. For the uninformed, losing weight is not a steady downward slope. It has its ups and downs, and the only way you know you're having success is by looking at long-term data. Despite having all of your data available to analyze, the game does no such analysis to figure out the statistical trend that your weight is following. What results is the game having a hissy fit about you gaining 1.1lbs, even though you lost weight over the last week and are 40lbs down overall.

It's also overly dependent on BMI, and not very flexible in letting you set your goals. Sure, when you're not very fit, BMI is pretty accurate, but as you become more muscular, it's less accurate since it makes no distinction between fat mass and muscle mass. When you set your weight and daily calorie goals, you can't just enter your desired numbers. You select a BMI you want to reach and the time frame in which you would like to reach it, and it calculates a calorie goal for you.

I had issues with getting the motion controls to work with some of the exercises, but the vast majority of them had few to zero control issues. If you're looking to buy as little hardware as possible and still be able to play the full game, two Wii Motion Plus Wiimotes, the Balance Board, and the Wii U Gamepad are all you need. All exercises that require a Nunchuck will also let you use a second Wiimote instead.

Overall, given that I've lost a bunch of weight and have kept it off by continuing to do what I was doing to lose weight in the first place, I'd recommend that any gamer who needs to lose some weight give this game a shot. It might be a somewhat large up-front cost if you have none of the hardware like I did, but in the end it's far cheaper than a gym membership, and you get the satisfaction of knowing that you're the one who made this decision, and that you're taking charge of your life and changing it for the better. When you see the results, you'll have nobody to credit but yourself. In that way, the investment is completely worth it.
Excellent Board

I read several reviews before making the purchase. The price is excellent. Here is my thoughts on a few things mentioned in other reviews....First it clearly says Wii Fit U....that means it is for the Wii U not the original Wii. The bottom of the board has Nintendo on it, made into the plastic. The area on the bottom with the pencil marks is more than likely from the assembly line, many items are marked after inspected....
I had no issue with this board connecting, you put the disk in and batteries in the board...then when the game starts and you select what you want to play ( or the exercise) it will say to tap the power button with your foot, then it will tell you when to step on. There were no issues with my disc. The box was sealed upon arrival and all items are genuine.
The price is low, yes, because the Wii U has been out for a long time, in a sense it is "old".....I am happy with my purchase, all of it works as it should, the item is new.
Wii Fit U puts You front and center . . . literally
Edward BalenDecember 27, 2016
Wii Fit U completely knocks Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus into oblivion. It literally lives up to its name. It puts you, and I mean you, front and center. It has all the cool stuff from its predecessors mixed with some cool additives. Let me explain what I mean.

Both Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus had the Body Test that measured your weight, Center Of Balance and Body Mass Index. Wii Fit U has the Body Test too, with a few added special things. First and foremost is the Gamepad. You can virtually use Wii Fit U with the gamepad without a television. When it comes to the Body Test, Wii Fit U adds you personally into the mix. Using the Gamepad camera, you are able to take a selfie of yourself. Not only do you have the statistics, you also have your own personal images.

The Wii Fit balance board included with this package is the same as it always has been. The other cool thing is the Wii U Fit Meter. This meter not only interacts with Wii Fit U. As you wear it throughout the day, it measures a myriad of things. Steps taken and calories burned are just two of them. When climbing stairs, the meter measures your altitude. After each day is through, come on back to Wii Fit U and transfer your data from the meter to Wii Fit U via the infrared sensor on the gamepad. If you need a way to do a quick Body Test and data transfer, install the Wii Fit U Quick Check on your Wii U. I consulted Nintendo myself regarding this. The Wii Fit U Meter can store up to twenty-eight days of data. In other words, you can use the Wii Fit U Meter for four weeks before you would need to transfer your data.

If you want a great way to lose weight and have fun doing it, Wii Fit U awaits you!
Wish there were more exercise routines than the ones in ...

Wish there were more exercise routines than the ones in the game, but they get the job done. Oh, and just to clear things up for anyone curious, yes, the Wii U Fit disk/game does come with this package (see photos).
