So we needed a secure storage for our larger speciality knives and this fit the bill. Its held up by extremely powerful magnets making it somewhat difficult to pull down. And even when it does come down for access, the internal magnets securing the knives keeps everything in place without worry of the knives falling down upon the counter. For me, it really gives me a safe place for our larger knives allowing for our everyday knives to be stored separately. I'm still getting use to it and the installation was not the easiest, yet I still was able to install it without too much hassle. And you do need both hands to pull it open"¦..I'm trying to say this is not easy to open for just anyone"¦.keeping the knives relatively safe from really young, curious peeps ps.

I absolutely love this knife block. I have seen this in my past off and on and always thought of it as clever but never thought I needed one that badly. Fast forward several years and I have downsized to a smaller home with a smaller counter. The drop block works perfect and gives me more counter space.

This is a nice alternative to visible magnetic knife strips. Your knives, scissors etc are held firmly in place and the whole unit snaps up into place when your finished. This is a nice way to keep your knife block off the counter.
