Holy moly these things are LOUD. I was hoping to find a door chime to alert me if our backdoor has been opened (as we have a toddler and a pool). These will do the job alright. I think the neighbors can hear it too. Our previous security system had door chimes that were audible, but not annoying. I decided not to use them since the ear piercing chime was just too loud for me to handle...mainly because the backdoor gets opened a lot to let the dog in and out and it is located in our living room. It would drive me nuts to hear it all day long.

I've had something like this before but the two pieces had to be exactly touching and exactly lined up to work ..this one is awesome doesn't have to be actually touching each other to work they can be a little distance which is perfect for my sliding glass door.. has 3M tap so it stays in place

Works as described. It's loud!!! Got this because our 2 year old son figured out how to unlock the front door. He's "escaped" a couple times, but luckily I wasn't too far behind. Highly recommended.

I have three little boys and a lot of second story windows. These are an inexpensive way to know if they decide they want to take a super hero flight off the roof (which my husband actually tried as a child, but the neighbors caught him before he took flight!). I have recommended these to multiple parents who have had scares with young children opening windows at night or throwing things out them. You can turn them off if you want to open the window. I just use a screw on a window lock so I can vent the windows in the summer but they can't get them past a certain point. These are REALLY loud so you would hear them from anywhere in the house and the child would likely be too scared to try anything! They are also a great idea for home security or to keep sleep walkers in check!

We're moving from a house to an apartment soon and I was looking into affordable home security options. These alarms are perfect for renters and homeowners alike. The alarm is battery operated, so there's no need for expensive installation. Below I've listed my pros and cons of these awesome little alarms.

Pros:
Small, discreet design.
3 settings - off, chime, alarm.
Easy to toggle between the three settings.
VERY loud chime and alarm settings. (I jumped when the chime went off for the first time.)
No-brainer installation. (Stick on)
Cheap in price but not in quality!

Cons:
Depending on how your door/window set up is, it may be difficult to position the alarm at the correct distance for it to work. (I included a picture showing the max distance I could position the two pieces without disrupting the link between them.)

The alarm turns off when the two pieces are put back together, which I can't decide if I like or not. On one hand, it's more convenient if the shrill alarm can be quieted quickly, but for security's sake it's not the best deterrent. The alarm is loud enough that even if it's turned off quickly, you'll be alerted that your door or window was opened.

Overall, I love these little alarms. I plan to order more and install them all around my house. They are smaller than I anticipated, but I'm pleased with their quality and functionality.
