Not as hard as a lacrosse ball. I use this first to loosen knots before bringing out the big guns.
Doesn't work well for me, but it is well made and I think it would be great for some people.

Very well made, seems like it will last a long time. No smell. I love it that it isn't too spikey and doen't hurt my foot, but on the downside it doesn't provide much resistance and doesn't seem to help me very much. Very squishy.
