This was my first taste of tamarind, and I'll definitely be buying it again.
I love tomatoes, but they don't love me. So when this product was recommended on a food allergy blog as a tangy substitute for tomatoes in sauces, soups, casseroles, etc., I was eager to try it.
Tamarind concentrate doesn't taste like tomatoes; I didn't expect it to. But it does give that sweet and tangy taste that's missing from my "nomato" spaghetti sauce recipe. I'm looking forward to trying it in Asian sweet/sour dishes as well.
