Cat Scratches Hidden!!

I had two long couches and an ottoman that were heavily scratched by my cat. I am talking scratches everywhere, tiny claw tears and little claw pecks/pokes all over. My sofas are leather in some areas and pleather in others. I failed to take a before picture and I'm sorry about that. I started the project by sanding down all the little marks with a nail file. That removed all the loose leather/pleather marks. I then cleaned the sofas and ottoman with warm sudsy water and rinsed well. I then applied this product with a applicator pad recommended by Amazon called Lexol premium applicator sponges. I pushed the product into any deep grooves that were there and applied it quickly and evenly. After it dried I buffed it out and did the deep areas a second time. I buffed it out with the second applicator sponge that came in the package I purchased from Amazon. I used the other side of the second applicator sponge to apply the leather conditioner. Then I buffed it again really well and finished it with a Leather conditioner recommended by Amazon that's called leather honey. This product worked spectacularly on both the leather and the fake leather. It took very little time and I am supremely happy with the results. I also recommend the leather honey because the recoloring bomb did leave the sofa is a little dry. The leather honey is thick and shiny but after it dries it leaves both the leather and the fake leather really soft and protected.
If you have scratches or areas that are worn lightly it will work just fine. Put product on a rag

The product is a cream that is water based. it washes off with water. If you have scratches or areas that are worn lightly it will work just fine. Put product on a rag, generously rub on, wait a few minutes and wipe off excess. If you have a larger area that is lacking color this will not work well. I scuffed the area first with light sand paper and that helped the area absorb the color a bit better, but still not great. You cannot recoat after the first one dries, the second coat will strip the first one right off.
Really Does Work, INCREDIBLE!

Where do I start? Well my furniture is 17 years old, High end leather, but to be honest, like so many of us, I wasn't one to do reg cleaning and maintenance on it after it got older. The arm rests especially, and the seat cushions had really taken a beating. The leather was rough and starting to show signs of cracking and the leather itself had faded. It looked hideous to me and always covered the cushions with a blanket. My plan was to just buy new furniture as I thought there was no hope in refurbishing the leather or color. Well let me tell you, I came across this product on Amazon, and I thought, what the heck, the reviews looked great, so I thought I would try it. I wish I would have taken photos of before and after, because it HONESTLY looks like the before and after on the label!.. Following the instructions, I cleaned the leather with the Furniture Clinic cleaner, then followed with the Furniture Clinic Conditioner. I used the cleaner on the soiled areas, the arm rests and the cushions, but condtioned the entire seating area. ( the rest of the loveseat leather was still like new as far as suppleness). I then applied the Re-Coloring Balm and OMG, what a transformation. I started on the arm rests, cushions and attached back pillows. I HONESTLY couldn't believe how it worked!.. The areas that had the worst wear and damage, sucked up the product, This didn't scare me as I really didn't have anything to lose if it ended up looking like crap lol. Directions say to let dry for 5 mins and buff... I kept reapplying to the arm rests and seat cushions and each time I reapplied, I could feel the difference in the leather..The rough texture started to disappear and the dark wear look in those areas disappeared!. I left it sit overnite. I woke up this morning and could not believe the difference in the way the loveseat looks and feels!.. The leather is about 90% MORE supple and visibly, it looks incredible!..My husband got up this morning and could not believe the transformation. He said it looked almost new!. I plan on applying the conditioner to the arms and cushions one more time before lightly buffing, and will continue to conditon every other day to really soften up those areas. I can't stress enough how bad of shape this loveseat was in before and what a transformation this product has made so far!.. The leather is no longer "scratchy and dry looking".. I will see how this holds up and update this post. JUST a couple of things to note:, The Directions on the coloring do not really say how to apply, so at first I started applying with a cloth, but the cloth absorbs too much of the product, so I used my fingertips and it slid on effortlessly and didn't need much product at all. You can use rubber gloves but I didn't, and the color washed right off with soap and water. Yes, rub it in a circular motion and in the areas that are bad, use the wax on wax off motion lol. I used about a half of a jar on the loveseat, so if applied with fingers, it will go a long way!
I believe what this product is, is a Tinted conditioner, which makes sense, and a good one. The molecules are obviously small enough to penetrate the leather, so that the tint and the condtioner is absorbed completely. ( that is the MOST important part). I just wish I would have taken before and after photos! I AM ordering more to have on hand for future use!
UPDATE: It's been 2 weeks now and my one and only application. Color still looks great, no scratches thru the color even with the dogs jumping up on the loveseat. Color has NOT rubbed off onto anything.!! After reading alot of negative reviews, I have come to the conclusion that those people have applied the product to something OTHER than REAL leather!. DO THE ABSORBTION TEST BEFORE PURCHASING!. REAL LEATHER WILL absorb the water drop instantly!. anything other than leather will NOT. Those people who have used it on something other than REAL leather, may have a bit of color stain ONTOP of their fabric, but it will NOT absorb. THIS IS WHY it WILL rub off or fade early on.!
Great for minor damage, might work for severe damage

I purchased a red recoloring solution for a dark red/on blood furniture set. The furniture had a variety of damage, from minor nicks and scratches to large patches of worn leather. The balm did an excellent job of recoloring the minor damage, however, the difference in color really came through in areas of severe wear. In short, if you have severely damaged furniture, you may have better results if you send in for a custom color that matches your furniture perfectly.

There is some minor color loss to clothes and fabric in the first few days after application. The balm does a fair job of reconditioning dry leather, but depending on the degree of wear, you may wish to purchase an additional conditioning solution to soften and restore your leather.
The sofa was extremely comfortable but having been in direct sunlight for many years

This product just saved me thousands of dollars! We inherited a leather sectional when we bought a second home in the mountains. The sofa was extremely comfortable but having been in direct sunlight for many years, the couch was very faded. Its original color was similar to a bomber jacket which I could see from the undersides and back of the couch. After researching it online, I found this product. Initially I thought it would be too much trouble and I was intimidated. So I bought ZEPs Leather Cleaner and Conditioner to try instead. I tried it on one cushion and the only effect it had was to make it really soft and supple. The color had barely changed. I will, however, use the ZEPs to condition and protect it after I'm done.

So I went back and watched the video for this product and read the reviews. After one application, the color is pretty close to the original which looks distressed like a bomber jacket. The balm is the consistency of heavy night cream and goes on very easily with no streaks. I could probably leave it as is or with a second coat the whole sofa would be a deeper, richer brown which would then take away the distressed look. Unfortunately I only brought one cushion home so I can't finish the project! A good movie and I will finish the whole sectional : Keep posted and I will attach before and after pics later.
