We use hard wood in our fireplace. Starting a fire is always a challenge. These made it as simple and putting a couple of these in, adding the wood, and lighten the starters. much easier. Very little kindling was needed to get it going. They lit easily and stay for quite a while.

These would work great for a campfire or emergency fire. I bought them to light logs in my fireplace because they are cheaper than fire logs. Unfortunately they are too small and do not provide enough fire to work without kindling of some kind. Still a good product, but I was hoping they would be a bit bigger.

Just not worth what they are charging. They don't perform well in a wood burning fireplace insert. Simply put, the fatwood works much better for us.
I tried burning "down" as it says to and good old fashioned burning up. It's simply hit or miss. Again, the fatwood with 2-3 pieces is cheaper and works better than 1 packet of this stuff that's pricey.
I used to find packets that had a less solid material in it that would like a log all by itself.
Wish I could find those.

Not the usual chunks of saw dust

Good things come in small packets! These are not the usual big clunky bar starters that are 90 percent saw dust, they are just the accelerant in a waxy product in individual little 2 inch by 4 inch by 1/8 of an in ch thick packets. I piled up my fireplace logs , slipped one of these packets in the appropriate lower area of the pile.. lit one of the little corners. of the packet , an it slowly ignited, burning long enough to ignite the firewood with out any coaxing.

Best fire starter I've used compared to others. It's similar to the military version. I used this at home for fireplace and out in the woods for camping and hunting. Where this product really shined was when I was survival training and used this product to start a fire in a bad down poor rain with extreme wind conditions.
