I was sent white cutters even though the description implies that these are bare metal. Which is fine for me; I wanted white in the first place and settled for silver because of the cost.
Although the outside sleeve is aluminum, the inner body is galvanized steel. If you're keeping a magnet in your pocket to stick your knife onto, these should work for you.
The only reason I didn't give these five stars is because the inner body of the knife doesn't have a place for a spare blade.

i don't know what i was thinking this are good but must be care not to cut yourself as the slider is hard to pull over and slide back to close. i bought it for ripping seams out of sewing projects its good for that and the blades that came with it. however i didn't need 12 and i order more than i needed the advertisement was either miss leading or i wasnt wearing my eye glasses because i ordered 2 boxes.

As a manager at a newspaper station, these are very useful for cutting plastic straps that hold bundles of papers together. I passed them out to carriers who survived the year. You can't leave these laying around, because they have a way of growing legs and running off! They handle cutting thick plastic wrap pretty well. They tend to be a little fragile near the blades if dropped on concrete. But for the price they are a good investment!

In terms of what you want out of a box cutter: you want something that won't cut you when you reach into your pocket, you want something dependable, and you want something that's expendable/replaceable. These are cheap, but I prefer them that way. It takes me forever to get through an entire box of them, and with the ability to swap out razors you hardly ever need to anyway.
