Bought this for my 5 yr old niece for her birthday. She absolutely loved it! It wasn't real easy to find the first fossil, it was a good struggle that you want children to learn to preserve with. Once she found the first fossil she was so intrigued that it kept her going. Over 3 days she found all of the fossils. This is so educational, finding the fossils then lead her to investigate what type they were. Would love more educational kinds of toys like this.

I purchased the Mine for Fossils kit for my five-year- old granddaughter for Christmas. She was so excited when she opened it and couldn't wait to "dig for the fossils". It is a rather messy project ( make sure to place block on newspaper or other covering as recommended ) , but she had so much fun using the tools provided to unearth the fossils. It is a great learning toy as descriptions of each fossil and where they came from are provided. It was wonderful to watch her become so involved in her work and to know that she was also learning. An awesome gift for any young budding paleontologist.

An amazing find! My students LOVED this - just as we started scratching the surface, they found over 6 fossils for which they could continue to dig! They mean what they say - the fossils are amazing and some are truly gorgeous! They have each asked for one for each of the individually to continue to pursue archeology and fossil digging! Kids of ALL ages would love this!
