A Decent Ink, Just Not for Use in All Pens
Brian LevFebruary 20, 2018
I purchased these for a low-cost pen in the hopes that a high-end ink would help it perform better. Unfortunately, I missed seeing any statement that these are the *short* version of the International Standard Size, and had to resort to a variety of workarounds to use them. Once I succeeded in getting the ink into my pen, it proceeded to alternately clog or leak (very badly) at random intervals. I decided the problem was the pen and not the ink -- but when it became necessary to use the pen anyway, I used a different brand of permanent ink and the pen has performed flawlessly since the switch. The Montblanc ink -- when it wasn't clogging the pen or blotching the page -- left good, dark characters that dried quickly and did not soak through the page (when better quality paper was used); it also resisted smearing or erasure from moisture once it had "set" for a few minutes. Unfortunately, its formulation makes it unsuitable for use in some fountain pens from other manufacturers, with no way to know in advance if your pen is on the "No" list.
I'M NOT IMPRESSED

I did not see any requirements regarding paper when using this product. I did a sketch on Friday and allowed the ink to dry until Monday afternoon. When I began to wet my paper before painting, I noticed the ink began to bleed. So much so, the gray on the elephant was made with white watercolor paint that I had already laid down and the black ink from the sketch which is now ruined after drying on watercolor paper for over 48 hours. I'm not impressed!
.
UPDATE:
After the second week, I tested another area of the sketch and it still bled on my Strathmore watercolor paper. During third week I decided to try again. This time there was no bleeding. Finally!
