So far this Powerblanket has been a success. Since I am a residential customer, I chose to test it out on my front patio where the mailman and UPS guy are always leaving packages. I didn't want them to have to trek through too much snow, or slip on the ice. What I didn't expect was that the Powerblanket would actually dry the concrete, too.
It takes a little while to ramp up to 150 degrees, but once it does, the thawing process begins and everything melts away. Throughout the day, about every 2 hours, I would move the blanket to an adjacent location to continue clearing the snow. I know this is a completely lazy way of doing things, but I only needed a small area done and I knew shoveling would never get all of the snow. Ice melt is such a pain because you track that stuff in on your shoes, and I don't need that in my life.
It performed pretty well and I plan on using it on other applications, such as the roof when necessary and maybe even use it to warm the engine compartment of our truck to help with starting in the negative degree temperatures.
One thing I plan on doing in the future is using it to heat up the garage floor right before working on the car (i.e., oil change, etc.). I'm hoping this will at least help with the frigid concrete in the garage, as you can't exactly lay on it because the top stays cool to the touch.

Came in time and handy. In New York currently and this winter has been horrible. We had a snow storm and it did the job by the steps and front door as well as drive way. The square footage it covered was decent so no complaints. I pray that longevity is good and worth it. It's on stand by for the next snow storm.
These really do a great job of thawing ground quickly

These really do a great job of thawing ground quickly. I live in North Dakota and the frost can get to 8' in some harsh winters, even some rural water lines froze a couple years back. These will usually thaw about a foot a day directly below the blanket and it's surprising how easy it digs with the moisture softening up the soil. As an electrician these have been a real life saver.
Poor warranty and not the best in helping customers fix issues

We purchased 2 of these units to keep equipment warm that was stored in vans. they worked well for a year then both developed a break where the power cord goes into the blanket and they would no longer work. When contacted the customer service rep stated that power blanket WOULD NOT determine the error no matter what and would not even attempt to repair the blankets even if they were sent back. That is NOT customer service at all. While the product did work for a while a 400 blanket that lats 1 year is not a good investment.
THIS PRODUCT FROM THE MANUFACTURER OUT OF UTAH STATES IT ...
LAMBERT HIRSHEIMER•January 13, 2015
THIS PRODUCT FROM THE MANUFACTURER OUT OF UTAH STATES IT WILL MELT ICE. I PURCHASED THIS BLANKET TO DO JUST THAT. AFTER 4 DAYS THE BLANKET JUST MELTED THE ICE (BARELY) IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 4FT. X 5FT. BLANKET AREA. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT FOR ANY KIND OF ICE MELTING...TOO SLOW AND TOO INEFFICIENT...IF I COULD GIVE IT A ZERO STAR I WOULD.
