Not like it used to be.

This is the third West Bend cocoa maker I have used. The others were remarkable. I make cocoa for Safety Patrol students. The first two made hot chocolate quick and silent. This maker is loud (sounds sort of like a blender) and the cocoa is not stirred. I'm thinking the top is not fitting to the bottom. I have tried pushing down and trying to make sure it is fitting. There is a black dust left on the counter. It is only used once a day for about 15-20 minutes. I only used it 4 times before break. I'm not sure what to do when class resumes.

I replaced my back to basic model with this one. I use it 3-4 times a week. I like the auto shutoff. It mixes well and as long as I use the High heat, the temperature is good. I don't like the froth feature as it is too frothy. As others stated, it is difficult to clean (i make chai tea latte so i use milk)but I spray it with Pam first and I can use a finger nail to clean under the rim. I wish it sat in the base better. You have to hold onto the machine while pulling on the dispense lever or it will tip. It is loud but it doesn't take long to heat so it is not a problem for me. As for buttons being pushed in, yes, I had that happen as well. But only if I push on the side where the light is. If I push on the longer side, opposite of the light, I don't have that problem.

I'm pretty disappointed in this machine. Unfortunately I'm passed the return period since I had to exchange my first one and then the weather warmed up so I don't pull it back out until recently.
This is impossible to thoroughly clean. I immediately rinse after each use and use the Pampered Chef stone cleaner to scrap off the burnt chocolate from the heating plate. The problem is that the heating plate is not removable and little pieces get stuck under the seal.
I wish I could return for my money back. Huge disappointment.

Needs Some Improvement

The item mixed the hot chocolate and kept it hot. The only thing I did not like about it was that it gave the impression that it whipped the hot chocolate, when all it did was mix it. Tried a couple of brands, but it was the same thing. There is NO FROTH, even though there was an option for Froth, it did not stir it to the point where it was a foamy drink, but more of a blended drink. The nice feature was that it would heat the drink in the mixer, if it started to cool down. It would be good for cold winters or parties, where hot chocolate was ready to go. Too bad it doesn't have a higher speed motor to whip the chocolate and make it foamy. I would have paid extra for the FROTH feature, if it whipped the drink like I thought it was going to, and would have kept it.
Dissapointing and Quality questionable

I received this as a Christmas gift and we began using it the day after. First it is almost impossible to get completely clean under the gasket at the bottom edge of the container. There is always cocoa trapped around the gasket. Second the stopper pin broke after a week of use and we can no longer used the valve to dispense the cocoa. I was so hoping this would work but am very disappointed by the quality. I would not purchase again.
