I love Lock Laces. When I bought my original pair of Merrill shoes, they came with stretchy elastic laces. When finally had to buy a replacement pair of shoes, they came with regular laces, but I really missed the ease of slipping my shoes on and off without having to deal with the laces. These Lock Laces were the perfect replacements. I recently bought a pair of walking shoes that also had regular laces. I replaced those with elastic Lock Laces as well and they work great. I have recommended them to several friends who also love them.

Why I love elastic Lock Laces:

-No more potential of tripping over untied laces.
-Amazing ease of putting shoes on and taking them off.
-When I walk or run, the laces naturally stretch, allowing my foot to move more naturally within the shoe. This feature actually helps "break" in my shoes, as the laces no longer bind my feet within the shoe, yet keep my feet snuggly inside.
-The Lock Laces have amazing reflective property (an optional feature). Where I live, there are very few street lights. These laces make my feet really glow when any light hits it, making my night runs and dog walks much more safe.
-They are amazingly easy to install with two different types of "locks" that keep the laces secure. One lock is a round piece that the laces pull through and can be adjusted for shoe snugness very easily. The second is a lock that holds the loose ends together. This one you lock on yourself once you lace your shoes and cut the laces to the length you like. I personally cut them just long enough to hook under two of the criss-cross laces--it allows enough room for me to loosen the laces, if needed, but not so long that it will end up flopping around. I then tuck the lace ends under the two criss-cross parts and pretty much never touch it again.

Overall, I can't recommend these laces enough. They last and last...

No more loose or untied laces on my shoes! I have had these hiking shoes for years and now they are even better with these new laces! I was always re-tying them! Now they stay tied and flex when I need then to. These are the third or fourth pair I have bought for different shoes. Get 'em and stop messing with your laces for good!

Ok, so this not a review about shoes, but shoe laces. So, the arch support question does not apply here. I have to say, these things are great! I've been wearing them for a little over of a week now, and I've been absolutely amazed by them. They were very easy to install. However, the clip that protects the ends of the laces is really hard to close once the laces are in place. If you have weak hands or are arthritic, you probably won't be able to close them without a pair of pliers. I do have strong hands, and am not arthritic (yet :-)), and really struggled getting them closed. That is the one of two complaints I have for them.

When I ordered them, Lock Laces sent me a link to a You Tube video on how to install them, which was really helpful. Of course, there were additional You Tube related videos available. I watched a couple of those too. Very helpful, and was fully prepared for the installation. They were very easy to install.

The laces are elastic, so you must install them with your shoe on (also states this in the videos and packaging as well). The elastic is great! Once installed, I can slip the shoes on and off easily without having to loosen the laces, and they are comfortably tight every time. In fact, I've never loosened the laces since I've installed them.

Now for the other complaint. Once installed and tightened, the end sticks out like someone sticking out there tongue. That was easily remedied though by tucking the lace end cover underneath the laces.

In all, I really like these laces, and would buy them again. Given that I haven't had to loosen the laces (the prime cause of lace failure), I doubt I'll have to buy another set for these shoes, but my other (and future) shoes will have them as soon as they need them.

These laces were very easy to install. So far they seem to work very well.
I suppose that time will tell as to the durability but they look like they will last for quite a while.
