It works, but could be better. The material is nice and soft. However, the indentation for the nose could be cut out a little bit more. I do not have a big nose, but there is still a gap between the mask and face that lets light in at the bottom. I am always adjusting it to stop the light from coming in at that space.

Update 10/17/16: The company has excellent customer service and let me try their model with nasal baffle. (I gave the company 5 stars.) It is really a better model. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money and get this model ---- "ALASKA BEAR® - Natural silk blackout eye mask for meditation and lucid dreaming, 100% LIGHT BLOCKING"

Really works well to block out light. I rotate masks depending on sleep circumstances, and this mask is totally soft and has excellent coverage. But a suggestion to the actual manufacturers: change from ONE to TWO back straps. I find that pressure on the eyeballs, for a good fit, is annoying. I wear a cpap headgear every time I doze. This mask is really nice because I can loosen the band substantially and still retain little mask movement, but 2 straps would make it perfect!

This was a great investment. I'm a "gotta be completely dark" sleeper. I've had a couple of masks before. They either didn't block out all of the light, or they were shaped in a "one size fits all" construction, and the slightest misplacement let light in. This stays firmly in place, even with the band loosely snug, and is soft enough that it conforms easily. It doesn't feel tight across your eyeballs, and it's silky smooth. It feels like silk sheets draped across your face. I've taken it on road trips and slept in the front seat, facing the morning sun, while my wife drove the last leg of the trip. I highly recommend it, especially for the price.

I've had this mask for a few years now, I work overnights so need to block out the light to sleep during the day. I say this mask blocks about 95% of the light, a little gets through around the nose and depending on how my head is resting against the pillow. I feel the cut for the nose could go a little higher and make it way more effective also two straps would probably help the side block light a bit better.

Aside from a few minor issues this is a very solid sleep mask, it stays on all night, is comfortable, blocks almost all the light, and has been very durable. I would not toss this in a machine but a quick hand wash and hang dry will do just fine. If you have a very large head this mask may not be for you, I have the strap expanded all the way and do not consider myself to have a large head.

Lately, I've had nightly issues with sleeping. I don't have trouble falling asleep, but then I awake at 2-3:00 am. The real problem has been getting back to sleep rather than tossing and turning for an hour or two and then sleeping fitfully. I bought this sleep mask as an experiment, although I didn't really think light was a problem for me. I've been using it at bedtime for about a week and had great success. I'm still getting up in the middle of the night (hey, I'm old and those late night bathroom trips happen), but since I started wearing the mask, I've been sleeping in (for me). Yesterday I woke up at 8:00, this morning at 7:30. Much better than losing an hour at night, then waking for good at 5:00 am.

As others have said, the silk mask is extremely comfortable and blackout effective. I'm only conscious of it being on my face because I can't see anything, not gray, not little glimpses of light, just black. Awesome.
