This scribe is the best one we have used. Being a contractor focused on perfection this will stay in my tool bag as necessity.
2 stars here's why: First the metal slider/gauge/ruler (whatever) ...

2 stars here's why: First the metal slider/gauge/ruler (whatever) does not have a lock in place device. I move it with my thumb but will not stay, and when the metal slider moves, it changes the pencil location. In order to compensate, I have to provide pressure between thumb and fingers. This pressure will also move the pencil part up or down because the plastic body is too flimsy (or i have the kung fu grip). Guess it is obvious what happens if the pencil is moving on you. This Trend failed, in my opinion.

I was tired of using a compass to scribe siding or trim, this thing is great for all of that and the shape doesn't get in the way of scribing.
