Old Style Worked Very VERY Well, New Style Is AWFUL!
Barry✓ Verified Purchase•March 7, 2024
The OLD style of Huggies Overnights worked perfectly. Not only did they not leak, the super-thick gel lining in the diapers kept the wetness off of your baby's skin & even heavy wetters would stay dry, leak-free & comfortable for an entire night with no problem whatsoever.
The NEW style is a cheaper version & are garbage. The material feels significantly thinner, they're at least half the thickness of the Old version, it seems that the interior gel lining has been removed, they leak & the baby's skin is irritated. After less than a week of using the New version of Huggies Overnights my daughter has developed small red bumps & has redness & irritation if I wait until morning to change her like I did/could with the Old version, so now I have to get up & check & change her in the middle of the night.
The New version of Huggies overnights feels like they're packaging regular Huggies in the Overnights box & charging more for them. & I had to include my review of the New Overnights in this review because Amazon is restricting or outright not allowing reviews of the New version, probably because of the flood of negative reviews of the New cheap flimsy trash inferior product.
The prices for any remaining supplies of the Old version of Huggies Overnights have skyrocketed, they're up to double the price in some cases, & I'm STILL considering buying some just so that our daughter can have at least a couple more weeks or months of comfort versus buying the New version. I'd been using Subscribe & Save for the Old version of Huggies Overnights for a year but I just canceled because even though the New version is still cheaper than some other brand's version of Overnight Diapers, they're not worth it, & my daughter's comfort is priceless.
Trying to find a new brand, such a shame that yet another company has prioritized profit over quality. R.I.P. Huggies Overnights. might as well wrap your child in an already soaking-wet diaper before bed & cut out the middleman with the crappy New version.

So far so good but I have one complain

I was a little scared to try this because of the reviews about diaper explosion, but Honest Co was a total failure (my baby had severe skin rash due to the allergic reaction to the plant they use in their diapers) and there aren't many brands produce night time diapers so Huggies seemed to be the only choice I had. However, I haven't had bad experience and am pretty satisfied with it.
The thing is my baby is 7 months old and still wakes up for feeding once in the middle of the night. So I have a chance to change his diaper and he hasn't completely slept through the night yet. If the amount of 2 diapers were combined, I'm not sure what would happen (maybe explodes?) but so far so good. It definitely holds more liquid than regular diapers and I haven't seen any leakage. Once my constipated baby passed massive amount of stool (he hadn't gone for 3 days and pretty much everything came out!) in the early morning but Huggies held it pretty well.
Only complain is that it is hard to put it on because of the stretch band on the back side. I have a very active baby boy and this simple task of changing diapers sometimes takes me a full minute because he doesn't stop moving. And Huggies requires an extra effort to stretch the back side while holding the baby in position.

Surprisingly, these works much better than the Pampers we had been using for the past several months. The Pampers would leak but we were reluctant to change to Huggies overnights because their daytime diapers seemed to leak occasionally.
We now use Huggies during the day and Huggies at night and we virtually leak free! These diapers work great for heavy wetters. My little one wakes up with a diaper that weighs ten pounds, I rarely have an issue with leaking when using Huggies Overnites. I have tried many different brands and these definitely hold the most and work the best. My youngest has been peeing through his diapers since he was a newborn. The kid is a fountain. These are the only thing keeping me from changing the sheets multiple times a day and my son from waking up during the night. We're out right now and using regular Huggies, and it has been a mess. Highly recommend for heavy wetters. The diaper out of the package is thick!! But that was okay as that's what we needed. There is no wetness indicator, but again, that's fine for us as we use it only when she sleeps, and I will also say these diapers aren't meant for anything else but helping to stop leakage for night time. Since they are so thick, it would be very difficult to walk or crawl in these!
Now in the actual use of the Overnite diaper, I found that it fit pretty well, even though they were a size up (my child is a fast grower, and after a few weeks she's fitting in these very well now). I do find the band around her chubby legs "seems" to be a little tighter than I'd like, but we've had no issues of marks on her legs at all or anywhere else on her body. I find the area around her middle to be soft, and the elastic is fine in the back. The first night of her wearing these we woke up to no leaks! She sleeps on her belly and all the liquid pools around her mid section causing the leaks from that angle, but after using these Huggie Overnite diapers, we haven't had a leak since, and we're going on week number five! And my little one moves all over her crib at night too. In the morning the front of her diaper is massive from all the tinkle, as this child can create a puddle in one go, but the diaper has held up very well!

switched from pampers

We had to switch my baby from breastmilk to formula at 6 months, and one of the only drastic changes we saw was that he started peeing so much more. He was *thankfully!* sleeping through the night, but he would wake up in the morning in a puddle with soaking pajamas. We were die hard Pampers swaddlers fans, and we even tried a larger size at night and it didn't seem to make much of a difference. I did some research and heard these were better at night, and they were right! These handle overnight like a champ. They're really full in the morning, but rarely any leaks, and if there is a leak it's always just a very small spot on his pajamas. We still use Pampers in the day, but these are our go-to at night. I was scared to get these after seeing all the reviews with the inside stuffing coming out, but that has yet to happen to us, even with VERY full diapers in the morning. Wonder if that was just a bad batch or something?
Love these diapers except for the times they cause a gap between the waist and the waist band that leads to leaking

I really want to give these a five star review but can't. Our son is going to be four next year and has reverted from potty training so we needed a good diaper at night to help him stay dry, and asleep, for the entire night. Pampers just did not cut it for him and he woke up angry because he was wet and as soon as we changed him he went back to sleep. These huggies are amazing as they last through the night 95% of the time. The only complaint I have is the waist band. Our son doesn't always like to wear pajama pants, or shorts, to bed and I have noticed on multiple occasions that there is a half dried wet spot on his bedding that smells like pee but his diaper is dry. On the nights he has crawled in our bed, gotta love the nightmare stage :(, I have noticed the same thing happening multiple times. After weeks and weeks of scratching my head I realized that the diaper likes to scoot down on the front and depending on the position he is sleeping in, the front will leave a gap and he will end up peeing out of his diaper!! While this is definitely a pain we still continue to use these diapers. I have made sure they are the right fit, have tried positioning them higher and lower on his waist but regardless of this, they always go down on his waist leaving this gap. If you have a girl I don't foresee this as an issue for you and highly recommend these. If you have a boy who won't peel off his pajama bottoms in the middle of the night these should work amazingly for you. If you have a boy who hates pajama bottoms like ours does, then just know this gap situation may happen to you. I have thought of putting big boy undies on over the diaper but do not want to confuse him on what the bug boy undies are supposed to be for so for now, we just do our best to keep his pajama pants on him and hope he falls asleep before he has the chance to peel them off.
