More sturdy than it looks.

The only problem I've had with this is that it came with the baskets crocked. A quick snap of the clip that holds them on took care of it, but I took away a star for it.
I have right now hanging in it: 5 lbs of potatoes plus a baking potato in the bottom basket
4 apples, the apple slicer and 1 tomato in the middle basket
2 medium size onions in the top basket.
Seems sturdy enough to me if it hasn't broken with all that in it.
Had to get up against the cabinet in the photo to get the lighting right, so took a dark one to show it's hanging nicely, it's my angle that's off, not the basket.

When the manufacturer puts this together they didn't bother with getting on of the chains into the top hook nor making sure the baskets were level. I spent 30 minutes doing that.
Then 15 minutes after filling it with my fruit the chain broke. Stupidest design ever. The links come together at the bottom so the weight on them pulls them open. They should come together on the side so if the link stretches all of your fruit doesn't come tumbling down on the floor. Yay, It was so fun picking it up, especially the tomatoes. A more robust chain would help as well.

I purchased because a cursory glance at the reviews assuaged the doubts I had from past hanging baskets. Specifically, that they don't hold much weight. Unfortunately, this thing didn't even last a single minute hanging in my kitchen. It suffers from two main problems:
1. First and foremost, it broke with less than eight small apples in it. Chains literally snapped in multiple places. What else can I say?
2. It was uneven out of the package. I spent a nearly ten full minutes attaching chains that had come off in shipping and then moving them around so the baskets actually hung evenly.
I'll be purchasing some chain at a local hardware store to fix this. The baskets seem sturdy enough.

I bought this a month and a half ago, and the chain near the top snapped. All of the fruit fell to the ground, bruising and splitting everything. I am so incredibly disappointed that a product intended to hold fruit suspend above the ground so poorly withstood a month and a half of use.
Nice addition for food storage.

I was happy to find this item in black. It looks much nicer hanging to the side of my vintage stove than a "silver" one would. I didn't realized that without the extra chain, that's also available at an additional cost, it hangs much too high up to be useful. Luckily I already had a length of slender black chain I had purchased from a hardware store for a purse that I took traveling (so no one could cut my bag off my shoulder). Once I added that to the product it functions fine. I didn't find it to be quite as "heavy duty" as expected but it seems strong enough so far. Great for keeping veggies and fruits from filling up the refrigerator and up off the counters. I really like seeing the colors of the fruits and veggies hanging up - looks very cheerful in my small, black & white kitchen!
