2009 Highlander
Finally retired✓ Verified Purchase•February 24, 2024
This fixed several weird door locking/unlocking issues we were having on our car. Part is exactly the same as an OEM "brand" part (Aisin). Old part picture with cables still attached, and new prior to installation. There are you-tube videos showing "how to" replace this part Be VERY careful with the trim strip on the inner door handle that covers two of the three door attachment screws. Mine shattered into several pieces when removing, in spite of my being careful.
The Original part was the same brand.

Driver door actuator into a 4Runner

I bought the Aisin DLT-010 Door Lock Actuator from Amazon Prime for $132.95 + tax after reviewing several sellers/prices. This item description claims it meets Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and regulations. I also learned that Aisin was "OEM" for Toyota. The actuator was well packaged and there were no instructions in the box.
I viewed several Toyota 4Runner actuator installation videos on You _ _ _ _ before I started the installation. I needed a T30 torx bit, a phillips screwdriver, 10mm socket, and plastic pry tools for the installation.
To install the actuator body to the drivers door, I had trouble dropping the vertical round shaft into the actuator hole while at the same time making the door lock horizontal shaft fit into the actuator upper star shaped crevice. I found another video that mentioned removal of the black plastic cover in the door near the exterior door handle. With the cover removed (see picture), take a T30 bit and unscrew the captive screw and this will release the key lock cylinder (with shaft) on the outside of the door. I put some masking tape on the shaft so it would not droop and then placed the key lock assembly back into the exterior lock location. This allow the lock shaft to successfully engage the star shaped crevice on the actuator body.
You won't have the key door lock problem on the other 3 passenger doors as they don't have a key lock.
I was satisfied with my installation and saved a significant amount of money by DIY.
My research also reveled that the driver door actuator failure is a common problem.
