I actually WANTED to write this review as both my guests and I are thrilled with this replacement mattress! I have a couch that is functionally and aesthetically fine but is 29 years old! The original spring mattress was okay for its time, but over the 29 years had lost its "spring" and padding which led to feeling the cross bars more so in the couch and pretty much unable to use the sleeper pull out. We did not use this pull out for years and then with a lot of company coming, we figured we ought to try the pull out....it was NOT until recently when we thought about using this pull out again if we could find a replacement mattress for it...and with research, we came across this one! It is well described in the write up and I measured the thickness of our old spring mattress and ordered the 4 inch thick, queen size pull out replacement mattress....I was concerned that maybe it would not fold back in....but it DOES fit perfectly and actually gives the couch a more firm seating as well. The ONLY thing, and it is not major at all, is that it is harder to pull out as the mattress is heavier than the orginal...but we have two people pull it out to make it easier....one person can do it, but we just have two of us pull it out to just be easier.
Our guests said they did NOT feel the bars and we also tested it out and it is a very comfortable mattress and really you don't feel the cross bars. I did order the foldable back board, but truly, you don't need it.....it might give a bit more support for a firmer feel, but you don't need it with this mattress unless you want to make double sure no one feels the bars or you want a firmer mattress feel!
We could NOT be more thrilled with this purchase...we now can use our 29 year old couch which hasn't been slept on in over 10 years.....with this new mattress, it gives us a lot of opportunity to have multiple guests visit and stay!

Bought this to replace a very old mattress on a sofa bed at our son's house. The difference between the old and the new was amazing. Granted, not the same as you would find on a regular bed, but compared to the normal sofa bed mattress this was great. And the sofa was more comfortable to sit on as well.

Great mattress for a sofa sleeper. I use it in conjunction with the Meliusly Sleeper Sofa support board (also available on amazon) to avoid the issue others mentioned about feeling the metal through the mattress.

My husband and I together are about 360lbs and it's fine for us; he's over 6ft tall so his feet hang a little off the end, but that is to be expected.

It was easy to setup and folds perfectly into the sofa together with the support board.

A little narrow

I thought the mattress would rise a little higher. I am not unhappy with it, but really I don't know how long it will last. It does fold nicely down into the sofa sleeper and I was happy with that. I probably should have purchased the FIRM, where I ordered the Med Firm. The size was perfect. I ordered a board to put under the mattress for better sleep. Glad I did. My guest thought she slept well on the mattress.
