Worst printer I have ever had
James✓ Verified Purchase•December 26, 2017
There is very little I like about this printer, and it is true, you get what you pay for. First, it uses most of the ink, simply cleaning the print heads. A cartridge which claims to print 300 copies prints only about 137, according to my count. Besides being a big time ink waster, the tiny LCD is not backlighted , so it is very hard to read. Canon has already replaced this machine once for me, and again it is misbehaving--wavy vertical lines and poor print quality, despite frequent cleaning head maintenance.
I hate this printer so much

I hate this printer so much.
I will say that the print quality is decent and the scan quality is great.
BUT (and this is a big but) it is a total ink guzzler and it has constant problems. It jams frequently. Like every couple of days. It has errors all the time and the display is difficult to read (it's under my desk and I have to use the flashlight function on my phone to read the display because it's so dim). It basically just has constant headaches. I picked out this printer after doing research and seeing that consumer reports recommended it for ink economy. That baffles me. I think the reviewers saying it's good on ink are maybe people who print rarely? For my home business where I print maybe 50 pages a week (still not that much comparatively) we've been going through cartridges really regularly. I'm so disappointed in this that I'm going back to my old canon printer. It had gotten pretty buggy and is 5 years old but it's still way better in terms of reliability and ink usage than this thing. So bummed that I've had it 2 months and can't return it.

Well, plan on it only lasting about one year ...

Well, plan on it only lasting about one year. Maybe a little bit more than a year. I keep trying these Canons, this is my third (and last) and seriously they don't last much longer than a year. (I know, what do you expect for a printer under 100?) I am really fed up with throw away products. Our earth can't sustain this kind of use and throw commerce.
Stunningly Bad Photo Quality!
KHepburn✓ Verified Purchase•December 16, 2016
I've always printed out my own pictures & loved my last Canon printer (Canon PIXMA MX712). The last printer ceased to function when an alarming message, indicating that I should unplug the printer immediately & call for service, popped up. It was 3 years old & I had a 2nd, much older HP printer that had died about a month before the Canon
I desperately needed a new printer for simple tasks, so I ordered this one. It was much cheaper than those I've had in the past, but unfortunately MUCH more expensive than it's current list price). The reviews seemed decent enough at the time (although I've noticed that the percentage of negative reviews has gone up significantly since then0 & I really liked the quality of photos generated on my last Canon printer.
This printer was completely painless to set up, & I was thrilled to just have a working printer again. However, I made the mistake of not testing the quality of photos soon after its purchase. Since I've never really had a major problem in all the years I've printed photos (at least 18 years & 6 printers), it didn't occur to me that photo quality would be a problem.
When Christmas rolled around & it was time for me to print some gifts, I encountered THE WORST picture quality I've ever seen in my life. The colors are absolutely horrendous, with large areas missing color altogether & a garish yellowish tint, after I had just replaced both of the ink cartridges.
I suppose I should have known better since there is only a single color cartridge, which I did not realize prior to setting up the printer. The pictures are so appallingly bad that I cannot believe I invested in this, &, given my experience, I have a hard time believed that anyone has been able to print high quality photographs. I've tried every maintenance tool available, multiple times, and I attempted to print dozens of photographs. I'm horrified by the results!
I'm submitting one of the original photos, followed by a scanned copy. I printed it on high quality photo paper, & scanned it on the printer using very high resolution.
