This looks like it's flat, meaning it's easily portable. No. There's a plastic thing stuck on the middle to hold a dry erase pen. This makes it useless for someone like me who is nonspeaking and has mobility impairments and has difficulty carting things around. For anyone who can write and is in a hospital, there are better options in the same price range for communicating (such as a dry erase board with pen and a separate piece of paper with common messages customized for that person) and a hospital should be able to provide them. For people who need to point, having a plastic thing sticking out of the middle of one side makes this hard to use; for people like me who need simple options because we have to bring them to places where people don't have 3-5 minutes to learn to understand us, the plastic thing sticking out of the middle means it's not useful. In other words, it's probably useful for making a health care facility look like it's doing the very minimum for people who have recently lost the ability to speak but have neither cognitive nor motor issues affecting the ability to communicate, but in practice it could have benefited from about 5 minutes' more thought about who might use it and how.
Works great.

A huge help for my sister, who is deaf and cannot speak or write. It has really reduced her frustration about communicating!
