No Good for Hand Held
Magruter•April 3, 2017
Can't use this mic while handheld - the stupid rubber thing on the bottom moves around and causes this awful noise in your footage. Why they would make it flexible like that is beyond me. I would have returned it but way past the deadline. I might use it as a self defense weapon if a stranger breaks into my house I'll strangle him with the cable.
Not good.

It didn't works as well as I thought it was going to. The room has to be really quiet for the microphone to work. For the conditions I was filming in, the microphone did not work well. I couldn't hear the person speaking with the mike.
Nice inexpensive addition for video hobbyist

Reasonably priced and used at a function a few weeks ago. Audio source was about 50 ft away and was able to record event speakers, but didn't realize some of the distortion was due to a fan blowing a few feet in front of the video camera. Very easy to use and happy with purchase.
Great Microphone

This microphone is good. It does increase the bass in my voice (even though I already have a deep voice). I have a video on the sound quality and how it sounds with wind. It uses one AAA battery. I can't say how long it lasts. The mount is sturdy (made out of metal and it's pretty thick.) Camera I use is a Canon HF R700.
This mic is adequate.

This microphone is about as good as you can ask for, for the money you paid. The positive of this mic is that it picks up everything; much louder and clearer than the built in mic of my cannon vixia. The negative however is that it picks up EVERYTHING. Every crackle, every whoosh of the fan blades and every weird mouth sound of the camera man. In all honesty it was nothing manually adjusting the audio settings on the camera couldnt fix, but it took quite a bit of trial and error to get exactly right. But if you're on a budget and just absolutely must have a directional shotgun mic, this one will do just fine.
