I've had this for around 6 months and so far it has held up. It's sturdy enough that you can put a fair amount of pressure on it to get a thin tortilla. Fresh made tortillas are so much better than store bought and this press is easy to operate and sturdy.

I really wanted to give it a 5. The problem it's that it came w/o the main pin.

If you eat tortillas on any sort of regular basis, then do yourself a favor and get one of these. They're built like a tank and will last for generations, so it's a good investment. We all know that nothing beats fresh and homemade"¦ anything. To get started, I purchased a 4-pound bag of Maseca instant corn masa flour (it's gluten free!) in my regular grocery store, and all I needed after that was a little bit of water. The bag will set you back about four dollars, and makes about 66 tortillas. It's highly recommended to use two pieces of heavy duty plastic in between the press itself and the masa mixture as you're forming your tortillas. I cut up a gallon-sized, ziplock freezer bag in the shape of two 9" circles, and they are perfect. I hand wash them after I'm finished, and store them with my other kitchen "wraps". Another thing I appreciate is that I can make as few or as many tortillas as I need at the time, so there's no waste. Any leftover masa can be stored in the freezer or refrigerator until next time.

This thing is awesome. The 8" cast iron tortilla press. It's HEAVY cast iron, and can press tortillas and flatbread doughs paper thin. I used it to press pita and pizza dough, into perfect rounds with ease. I'm gonna use this every day, to make simple healthy whole grain flatbreads in no time....flat...and it'll last until the year 3023 at least.
