Excellent Suit For an IM Hopeful That Normally Swims Like a Stone
Nik Daubert✓ Verified Purchase•March 12, 2018
First time wetsuit user here. I live in Hawaii, and am training for my first Ironman (Santa Rosa) in a few months. I've never owned or worn a suit before, but I had to bite the bullet since the 2.4 mile swim will be in Lake Sonoma (aka, colder than any Hawaiian waters). I spent a lot of time reading reviews and gauging price vs performance. In the end, I rolled the dice on this one, and so far I'm very pleased with the results. I'm 5'9", 154 pounds, with a slim build, average arm length, slightly shorter than average legs, and slightly longer than average torso. Granted, I have nothing to compare this suit to, but the fit seems dead on. The suit came with a handy little guide for how to put it on; which I found useful. The first time I put it on, I has someone help me with the zipper. The next time, I was solo, and it was fine. I followed the tip of putting on a pair of low cut socks first, which seemed to help get it started. As for the actual swimming, I have to say, it's been excellent. Full disclosure, I'm a weak swimmer with minimal experience. My legs normally drag like anchors in the water (be it pool or ocean). The suit masks that issue considerably. For the first swim, I was kind of stressed out, since I felt more constricted than I thought I would/should. But the second time around, the suit got a LOT more flexible after the first 10 minutes or so. So much so, that I swam further and faster than I ever had before. Normally I'm moving around 2:15/100m, but with the suit I was 1:55/100m. That's a pretty nice boost without spending any additional energy. If anything, I'm spend less energy, since I'm more relaxed and buoyant. In summary, so far so good!
Simply Amazing

This wetsuit is flat out amazing. In full disclosure, this is my first suit I have bought, I am a newcomer to triathlons and wanted a suit I could use to swim over the winter (I am in FL so not terribly cold) and one that was reasonably priced as let's be honest a $1000 suit is not going to make me faster at this point. That being said, this suit is amazing and combined with the pricing (and ability to trade back in on a new suit), this suit feels like a $1000 suit. The rubber is very stretchy and comfortable. I am the type that I do not like wearing neckties, hate constriction in the neck area. I experienced none of this in this suit. And absolutely zero neck chafing without using any type of body glide etc. The coating on the suit works very well, I could literally for the first time feel what it is like to glide through the water. This suit is extremely flexable and comfortable.
As for trying the suit on. I did not succeed in getting my suit on in the first try. I had thought perhaps I got too small of a size (I am 6-4, 215). But before I called to exchange, I reread the instructions and watch their and a couple of other YouTube videos on putting on wetsuits. Then attempted again, but with a slight change in my approach. I first turned the suite body inside out, and the arms and legs then half way inside out. I then pulled the suit on, ensuring I pulled the legs up to about mid-calf, a bit high but on purpose, then I was able to grab on the inside of the suit and pull it up inch by inch, ensuring that I was quite high in the crotch area. It felt like a wedggie (and it should). Then pulling the body on I followed their recommendation on pulling the chest area up. By doing this I was then able to zip the suit closed. A few wiggles and adjustments and it fit me like a second skin but more comfortable. I now can put this suit on by myself in under 3 minutes. Removal, it is so easy when wet (again even without any glide applied), this suit comes off in seconds. Their sizing chart is very detailed and very accurate I thought. My size was dead on for my height and weight.
I am a beginner, and may not have much in experience to compare to, but as a beginner I am very thankful I found this company and suit. It has been nothing but a positive experience. The only issue I had was registering my wetsuit, but my call to the company was promptly answered and they assisted me. This company not only has a great product but great customer service. I can tell you based on my experience with my very first suit, I will be a customer for life and look forward to future suits. The quality, mobility, comfort and value are superior!!!!!

Tight you will like

Great suit, fits tight as a second skin. I was not sure of the sizing and plan to loose a bit of weight. It was a major struggle to close the zipper the first time and this had to change. Wife was able to zip me in, but I don't want to rely on someone else. 2nd try I got the zipper up without a struggle! The zipper pull should have a ring which you can easily attach and detach the zipper leash to... In fact it can be just a loop line fed through the ring... removed after the zip is up and then fed into the ring to unzip... low tech. Why do you need to have the leash attached? Some very simple changes would make this a better suit, The zipper mod I can and will do.
I definitely don't like the velcro stuff. The hook parts (flap and zipper pull tab) stick to the inside of the suit and will ruin the fabric. The velcro material should have been reversed hook on the bottom (right side) and loop and the flap (left side)... Don't understand their logic here.
Whole flap thingy probably is unnecessary. All it does is hide the stored zipper leash) Getting rid of the velcro on the suit will be a challenge.
The suit is very well and carefully constructed. I could do without the graphics and would prefer none...I am sick of clothes being marketing. Can't they offer a NO LOGO NO GRAPHIC option? just plain black and a 2mm version would be nice too. This baby is toasty!

the Synergy is wonderful. Nice relaxed fit in the shoulders with plenty ...

After purchasing and trying two TYR wet suits, (sleeveless and full) and an older de soto, which always seemed to tight, despite the fit guide, the Synergy is wonderful. Nice relaxed fit in the shoulders with plenty of length in the arms and legs...I am 5'10 at 158 lbs, with a long inseam and short ertorso and the fit guide is very accurate. Very good value for the money. Especially easy to get off during transitions and quite comfortable with triathlon gear underneath (tri shorts/top). I wore compression socks underneath without any issues. Highly recommend this wet-suit to my friends and family.
Fast delivery and great fit

This is my first wet suit for triathlons, so I can't make comparisons with previous suits, also, I recently used this in my first 70.3 triathlon. First, the logistics - the suite arrived in two days in solid packaging with messaging about putting it on, etc. The sizing chart is spot on and the suit is a perfect fit, great range of motion in the upper body without any chafing.
As for performance, after the first swim, no tears, no issues, no chafing and the 5mm provides good flotation on the open water. All of the seams are taped on the inside in key areas and it absolutely feels good, in fact I wanted to keep swimming!
