Saw several YouTube vids on hearing protection for use on the shooting range and these came up alot with positive reviews for those on a budget, so I decided to take their advice and purchased a pair and took it to the range shot pistol and AR rifles and with a little adjustment this product performed well and I was happy , I also purchased the case to keep these in which worked nicely , earmuffs fold up into a nice compact bundle into case and perfect in my range bag. If your on a budget and want something decent I highly recommend

Not as bad as some people are griping about. I'm such a stickler for getting my music fix whenever possible. You can thank 12 years of awful grocery store music (you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy) incessant ad/jingles or other unpleasant noises when exposed to the public.
I digress.

So I go the range a few times when I'm brave to face traffic. So far I've been using those little orange gummy ear plugs found at Walmart (not anymore?) for
Sound samples included mostly of my rock/metal playlist. AC/DC. Mötley Crüe. Cheap Trick. Metallica. Steppenwolf. I'm 28 years old so you'll have to excuse my tastes here. I normally listen to this at deafening levels (and used to it) nobody should be so this is a level cap I can be comfortable with for change. It would certainly keep me entertained at the firing range... possibly make me stay longer, too. I sure could've used these 10 years ago when I was surrounded by people running chainsaws 10 hours a day. Ugh, the memories. >.

I have three sets of the Howard Leights for me personal, work and my wife. I love these ears but the cushion could be a little better. I rated them a four for that reason only. I replaced the pads with a set of gel pads and wear these things all day. Noise cancelling is quick and the sound is clean and crisp.

They are great for what they are intended for, which is to block out high and low intense sound levels. My husband and I got to try them out at a drag race. And boy was I grateful to have them! The sound of those cars are unbelievable 😵
But awesome! I had a hard time finding the sound level button because it almost blends right into the side of the headphones. So fiddling around with that was a pain, until I removed them from my head to locate it. I'd say they do remove majority of noise but they mid level noise canceling headphones. And my ears are very very sensitive to having something over them for long periods of time and I started having ear aches. The cushion is decent but not great! They do however come out and I'm thinking you could replace them with better cushion pieces. So I might consider looking at finding something that has more soft cushion to it. But over all, I think it's worth the price and does a decent job.
