Caution - Tube May Burst
kenneth cater✓ Verified Purchase•April 2, 2018
Ambient temperature where J-B weld sat all day was about 80 degrees. I cut off tip to apply the suggested 1/4" bead of sealant along plastic molding. Squeezing tube firmly to push sealant through the tip, flow had barely started when the base of the tube burst open. The job at hand was abandoned and nasty cleanup of black sticky goo commenced. Tube was thrown away. Buy an alternative brand, don't risk this outcome.
Expensive when only a portion of the tube can be used.

I purchased two tubes for a project in landscape lighting. I used approximately 1/4 of the first tube on the first day of the project, cleaned off the remaining silicone with a towel ,and replaced the lid. When I returned to the project. several days later, I discovered that the cap had split in half, horizonally, and the silicone was hardened, unable to use. I opened the second tube, used about the same amount as with the first tube, cleaned and sealed as with the first. The next day, I discovered the exact thing had happened to the lid and the remainder of the silicone was unable to use. While I have no problem with the product itself, I feel there is a problem with the caps. Expensive when you can only use a small portion of the silicone. I use Loctite products all the time and have never experienced this problem.
Perfect for the job!

I bought this for a rather strange purpose that I had read about. I used it to make a too big ring fit just right on my finger and not slip off. I applied a small amount around the inside of the ring, let it dry overnight, and voila had a ring that was a whole size smaller and fits perfectly! You don't even notice it's there. Much better than trying to use those uncomfortable ring size adjusters that you can see and don't always stay put. So many household uses!

I sealed holes in the bottom of my shoes with this! I stepped through many puddles during the rainy season, and no water leaked through THOSE holes. Lots still leaked in through the top, as expected...
RTV silicone is the universal adhesive

RTV silicone is great for working on many tasks. I prefer it to traditional glues and epoxies and I've been using it for years. This time I was using it to secure accessories to lexan R/C bodies. I don't see how J-B weld works better than any other brand I have used, but it's inexpensive. The nozzle will clog up pretty quickly, even if you cap it. If you exert too much pressure, you will also blow the back of the tube out and that's no fun.
