My 13 year old daughter has owned this shirt for about 6 months. The first weekend she wore it, a teammate (fastpitch pitcher) took a line drive to the chest. Super scary and thankfully she was ok. The girl's mom texted me later asking about the shirt!

I have had no issues with her wearing it especially after the incident. And for girls who probably have a sports bra on underneath, there have been no complaints about itchiness in the middle. But when you compare the picture shown on Amazon vs. my shirt, the heart coverage area is not nearly as large and ours is only a Youth XL. I did read another review that thought they used the same width padding on an Adult XL as for the kid's sizes?!?! I came back to buy another since she's got some away tournaments coming up and I don't want to worry about washing the one we have. Thinking about going up to Adult Small and hoping the coverage area increases proportionately. As for sizing- she is 5'4'', 111#, thin build and YXL fits tight enough not to be bulky but not uncomfortably small. Also, the collar is quite high. They have v neck jerseys and I was able to sew the collar inwards so that it isn't quite as visible but she still isn't thrilled about how much sticks out of the neckline. Washes well and I air dry.

You owe it to your baseball player son/daughter to buy this product. My Son has not stepped foot on a baseball field since T-ball over the past 12 years without wearing this product whether it be for a practice, scrimmage and/or game...PERIOD! We have used this brand and style shirt from Little League through High School Varsity baseball and it is worn with safety-confidence. Very nice quality that holds up very well to daily use and daily washing. My compliments as well as THANKS to McDavid for manufacturing this high-quality product that has kept my Son safe for years!

Glad to get this protection for my son without having extreme expense and extreme bulk. I find this item difficult to find locally as well as through other sporting goods stores. He finds it comfortable and lightweight, so it doesn't interfere with his pitching.

These shirts arrived just in time for baseball season! They seem to be made well, though we haven't washed them yet. True to size. The smaller boy in a size M is almost 9, about 4.5 feet tall and 65lbs. The taller boy in a size L is 10, about 5 feet tall and 75-80lbs. The protective center feels like individual and free moving (in their own hexagon shaped cell) foam pieces. It would absolutely absorb impact to the chest. They are a little loose but my boys have thin builds. I'm overall very happy with these shirts and I don't doubt they wlll be protected.

This is our third chest protector, and prob the best my kid has had. It appears to be the most comfortable as well. If it holds up( had for 5 months), it's def the best one we have used.
