Allison 1000 yes Duramax & 8.1 guys this is that little filter on the Outside of the transmission. if you did not install the "long life" fluid (495) you should be changing fluid every 35000. don't smoke your tranny.

Does what it was designed to do. I dropped the pan after twenty thousand miles to change atf fluid and the bottom of the pan was really clean.
