Not for high power use. Aluminum. Bulk resistance >.27ohm/100ft. About 11awg or 4.17mm cross section. Soft insulation.
Ben Fields•August 24, 2017
Edit: Did a resistance test and checked the page again, and it's labeled as aluminum.
Think, soft insulation; conductor measures at ~2.3mm for 11awg. Unsure what the seller means about AWG not meaning "american wire gauge" as the insulation is stamped "usa standard 10 gauge", which is not accurate.
If you're sizing for a power application, factor in the resistance, 4.17mm2 CSA and 1.35mm soft plastic insulation. 60C rating on the insulation seems reasonable.
When the black and red wires are separated, a black stripe is visible on the red wire.
As long as you accept that you're buying cheap not-copper wire intended for audio applications and act accordingly, not a bad deal.

Like most reviews are saying

Like most reviews are saying, this is not actually 10 AWG (american wire gauge). It's 12 AWG wire with thicker insulation. It's still a great price for 100' of black and red 12 AWG copper wire, but if your application requires 10 AWG, don't use this.
Not a true 8 AWG and not real copper. Its aluminum plated with copper a few atoms thick so it looks like copper.

OK for low power speakers maybe. Its not a true 8 AWG American Wire Gauge. It measures at about 10 AWG but it is aluminum, not copper. Be aware when you buy it that it can only handle the current of a 12 AWG copper wire. I got this because I needed 14 AWG wire and figured this would probably be enough for that. If you give it a load which needs 10 gauge, you will have a fire.
Good enough for the money in marine applications (fresh water)!

I have been using a spool of this wire to run lights and bait tanks in boats. In the 1.5 years I have had this wire in service I have no complaints. It has a nice heavy duty sheath, but is still playable enough to make sharp bends. I'm here to place my order for my second 100' roll of 10ga wire.
Love the black and red wire coating

Love the black and red wire coating. It give you confidence that you are connecting to the correct terminals. I used the 10g on my boat and have been very happy.
