Jake was very helpful in our back and forth communications. The product got here in a timely manner (early actually) and was just as described. Very well made and it looks great on any table. I purchased the limited run chocolate brown to go with my brown wood base on my vintage Denon DP-1200. I looks fantastic. I'm adding some pics so folks can see how sharp it is. Hopefully they view well. Fits my table perfectly, except in my case the DP-1200 has some vents around the outer edge of the platter and two larger open areas for servicing the table.....so, I put my new hide right on top of the existing Denon mat and it works great AND looks great. If your platter is solid you may consider removing your old mat and simply going with Jake's product. Highly recommend!!

New to turntables and records. Had a toy record player as a kid with flashing lights behind a gold silk panel, so I will not pretend to 'wow' you with my level of sophistication. Recently purchased an AT-LP-1240 because I wanted something capable of producing good sound. I equipped it with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge/headshell combo. This MAT is an awesome addition, not only does it look fantastic, fit perfectly, and cushion nicely; it seems to provide better sonic clarity over the felt mat that came with the turntable. Being a handmade product is impressive in this day & age of mass produced junk. That fact alone made me want to order this particular pad. I could not be happier with my choice, with Jake, and his business acumen. Came packaged in an old Johnny Mathis record cover with a personal note/receipt. Buy this turntable mat and you will be glad that you did.

What a fantastic seller, and artisan! The deer hide mat is quality made, beautiful, supple, and performant. Also, the item arrived early, with a very nice hand-written note from the seller/artisan, Jake - not important to some, but I thought it was a nice touch. Great experience, and great product! This was a noticeable improvement over a felt mat I've been using, and my ears tell me I've got less static beating on my cartridge. I don't have a good sound system for bass, but I really felt it come alive after just switching to the deer hide mat - truly impressive, and not expected. I love my felt mat (had it for years, and it has a cool graphic from a band I grew up with), but it's been demoted to dust-cover. The deer hide mat yields better sound with less static, has far more even thickness, and can actually be cleaned without ruining it... Very happy with my purchase!

Three words - Just. Buy. It.

You are not going to get a better personalized service. First. the mat. Just amazing. Nice and soft, real gentle on your precious vinyls. The cut and fit is just right. Looks great on my player. Second, Jake. I love the clever way he shipped the mat. And he also added a little personal touch with the included hand written note. A lost art to a lot of us these days.

The product was exactly as described. The fit and finish were excellent and , in opposition to what others have described, it appears that the mat/skin was exactly cut/stamped mechanically. Mine fits perfectly around the platter of my Oracle Paris turntable without much cajoling. To help conform the mat around the spindle more easily, I found that pressing the hide around the spindle base (slightly humped on my platter) worked the best. On the first few plays you might find it difficult to tighten the record clamp, but once the hide stretches it works just fine.
As far as the mat's effect on sound, I can honestly say that there was a noticeable difference in pops and clicks, approx 70-80% right off the bat. The clamping system on my turntable actually works the way it was intended as compared with the original, junk felt mat that it had when I bought it; I think mainly because of the thinness of the mat itself in comparison. Audibly, there a substantial difference in overall clarity and focus of everything I have listened to so far. It may be my imagination, but I feel as if the output of my system has been increased for any given volume that it is set on at the time. Probably due to less loss of signal/vibration to the stylus from the groove as well as removal of unwanted vibration from the turntable.
In a word, buy it. Don't worry about the cost; stop being so cheap. If you're looking to buy this mat you have most likely made a substantial investment in your system already. Besides, Jake seems awesome, it's made in America and the damn thing works as advertised. Could you say that about the last thing that you bought?
