Washer/Dryer Monitor!
gak48✓ Verified PurchaseJanuary 26, 2018
I have a second home in Florida where the washer/dryer is in the garage. I purchased this inexpensive unit to monitor whether they were still operating or their cycles were finished. Works like a charm. You can either choose to listen to the sounds inside the house to confirm whether they are still in operation - or you can mute the sounds and rely on the sound meter to tell you if they are still in operation (my preference). For the price and purpose, I'm extremely happy. If I wanted a unit for baby monitoring, I would probably opt for a more expensive one with a better sound quality. For my purpose, I just want to know if there is still sound coming from the garage.
Battery Killer

It tends to have interference often when traveling throughout the house - we have a 1200 sq/ft 2 story house with three bedrooms, though it's an old house so a lot of stone and wood.

I like that there's a battery backup/wireless mode for the receiver, however, the batteries drains incredibly quickly with it, and usually only last a few days on the two AAA batteries. If these used AA batteries that would be better. I use rechargeable batteries, so it's not as big of a deal, but you'd quickly be paying more in batteries than for the cost of the unit if you only used the wireless mode receiver.

Otherwise, it's a pretty standard receiver. It auto-connects when both are powered on, and will give you an audio cue when connection is lost.
Caution: not for light sleepers

We don't not like this monitor. The lower volume setting is way too loud for us. There is subtle feedback in the speaker so I, a light sleeper, hear every little fluctuation and wake up to it.
I have already thrown away the box but I'm hoping to return it.
Terrible!

Bought it six weeks ago, and now the speaker on the parent unit has already gone out. If there's one thing you need working on a baby monitor...
Too loud, even on lowest volume setting
Caitlin✓ Verified PurchaseJanuary 29, 2017
This monitor technically does what it's supposed to, but it doesn't do it well. There's a substantial humming that comes through, but it's spotty, so it will alternate silence and humming. And on its lowest volume setting, it's still quite loud, even when shoved under two pillows. It wakes the infant sleeping in my room every time her toddler brother whimpers, so the whole family is losing sleep. I sleep with the monitor next to my pillow, so I don't need something that can be heard from outside the house!
