Relatively good for the money, suffers some signal noise issues.
Ciaran•November 16, 2017
I have used one of these mixers for years, and generally speaking they are pretty good for what you pay. There is really only one down side, and that is the amount of noise that it collects. Perhaps it is not truely grounded through the outlet, and that is why i have so much noise (significantly perceptible) but I have always had noise issues. So Yamaha, if you could find away to filter the outputs and do a good job amping the signal, you would have a great product.
Perfect! Exactly what I was after! (and more!)

So, here it is: I needed a small mixer that would fit atop of my CPS Spacestation amp by Aspen Pittmen. The purpose of this is to essentially have a live "coffeehouse/winery/bistro" crashing rig for my solo live looping performances. (Full disclosure, I am the maker of exotic instruments (GuitarViols) and the rig is also for client demos in my shop/lab). I have been in the business spanning a few decades and I knew pretty much what I was after. Sure, I could have bought a Behringer on the cheap, but I really wanted something I can rely on and I have always had great experience with Yamaha. To my delight, the MG-10. Sure, a few more bucks (within my budget), but I have known Yamaha preamps to be really good. Plus, thanks to Amazon suggestion/pairing, there was a nice bundle that included a SKB gig bag (and a couple of XLR cables and a stereo to mini jack for iPhone etc.) Perfect! And guess what? I tested it immediately at my shop. (yeah, sounded great!) Then I brought the MG10 home try it with my recent purchase: A Rega RP-1 Turntable! (review pending). The CPS amp MG10 handled the Rega turntable like a dream! (As I expect with vinyl, the bass and from end preamp are essentially pegged). Everything sounded smooth and the Yamaha board handled it very well! Seriously, I was in the market for a 4 channel mixer. What I got was a 10 channel! At work, it will be fired up for visiting clients. In the field, some live gigs in bistros. (And hey, if a friend or two wants to crash my solo gig and sit in; I'll have more than enough channels!) At home, for holiday events, I'll even put on my vinyl spinning hat on! Well done Yamaha! My only possible regret is I did not check out/consider the MG10XU with effects. I bring my own ear candy on the front end but could be handy for a guest instrumentalist or singer? But, hey, I did not expect this! It is a great sounding unit!
