This handle is strong and easy to use for our trap door. However, it is not flush to the floor. The handle is 1/2 inch above the surface, as a side view would show.

These handled are awesome! Rugged... durable.... quality. I purchased these after I had the misfortune of ordering a cheaper pair. The cheaper ones had failing retracting springs that broke on first pull. Don't repeat my initial mistake.... don't be penny wise and pound foolish! Spend the extra couple of bucks and buy thiese.

Used this handle as to mod a computer case for a friend of mine. It was very sturdy, the spring snaps the handle down with a hefty thud. I trust the construction of the handle and it is worth the price for the quality and size.
