2nd purchase 3 years later has chemical smell-not for MCS sufferers
B. JarrardAugust 16, 2017
Pleased with purchase from May 2014. Shared some of mine with my Mom. Purchased this 8 pk 3 years later (March 2017) and new balls have chemical smell. (I looked up my first order to make sure I was ordering same product again.) Occasionally, I find new products have chemical odor from plastic and/or printed labels included in packaging and so I put one of these on a screened porch for a couple of weeks. Still has an odor. Not to be confused with natural odor inherent in wool. I have superpower olfactory sense and can readily recognize a faint smell in sweaters and a natural lambskin (especially when wet). Kind of like clean wet dog (bathed with fragrance-free shampoo, of course)

To company-Please send a return label, as I let my Amazon window close. If I cannot return these I will toss them. Not deemed suitable for dog toy or anyone else's laundry.
Not For Our Family...

I bought these as a second choice when the brand I really wanted was out of stock. I used them for about 6 months before they landed in the trash. I tried using a few in a load, and I tried using all of them in a load. No matter what I did, my laundry was always super staticky. If it was occurring in the dead of winter while the air was super dry I could understand it, but this was spring/summer in South Carolina. There was tons of humidity, and no reason for the laundry to be that staticky. I did add drops of essential oils to them to add fragrance to the laundry, and that was really nice. I wish I'd been able to make these work for me, but I just couldn't.
They work great. I think they really do shortened dryer time ...

I have been reading about these wool dryer balls and thought "really?" But when they came up as a lightening deal, I decided why not. I haven't used liquid fabric softener since. They work great. I think they really do shortened dryer time a bit. My laundry as been coming out super soft and wrinkle free, and only occasionally will I have some items with a tiny amount of static cling. The towels (which I stopped using fabric softener on quite a while ago) come out really soft and wrinkle free. I would imagine that after a few months of not buying liquid fabric softener, the cost of the dryer balls will have paid for themselves. So, I am quite pleased with these dryer balls and I glad I purchased them.
It's a Winner!

Received these today, earlier than expected, securely packaged. I ALWAYS have laundry, so no excuse not to give it an immediate try. Let me first say that our fam has multiple allergies and super sensitivities, so laundry detergent MUST be fragrance and dye free. As for dryer sheets...they have been a No No for years.
We had been using a rubberized ball-like thingamajic, which helped some--but was super noisy, even with a full load. Ahhh...so I tried this tennis sized wool ball...with no particular expectations. The results were remarkable! Softer clothing, no static cling, and definitely less dryer time!!! Think I'll do another load or two...(especially since my Steelers aren't in the Super Bowl tonight---instead I'll go with Super Ball !)
Not magic, but in some cases they can make enough difference to make some casual clothes acceptable without ironing.
Christopher EOctober 5, 2016
These aren't magic, but they work to an extent. For my no-iron clothes that actually do wrinkle a bit, they make a lot of difference, enough that ironing isn't necessary. For regular items that need ironing I don't see them as eliminating the need for an iron if you need a really good result, but for casual clothes that don't have to be perfect they do help a bit, potentially taking clothes from being too wrinkled to wear to acceptable. They're also good for making towels feel fluffy without using chemical additives (which I really don't like) and without reducing their ability to absorb water.

If a clothes dryer without much clothes in it they do add some noise as they are surprisingly dense, but in my machine it's a dull thump, and nowhere near as annoying as metallic objects can be.

I can recommend them within the parameters described above, but if you require more, then I'm not so sure.
