Good concept, but difficult to add/remove keys later
ck123✓ Verified Purchase•July 6, 2017
As others have stated, this has a good concept, but bad execution. When I first got this, I was able to put on my keys without too much trouble. Fast forward 2 years and I needed to remove/add keys. This was not easy to do. I unscrewed the one side, but it unscrewed at the weakest point, which for me was in the middle between 2 extenders. It was then difficult trying to juggle 3 keys on one side and 3 on the other and get it back together. After numerous attempts, I finally got it. However, I wound up overtightened it and broke it.
As a result, I plan on ordering a zippered leather key holder. I think that will be better as I can add/remove the specific keys I want. Plus, the keys will be concealed and not poke holes in my pants pocket.

Great Product, except it could have longer screws
Tom✓ Verified Purchase•January 18, 2017
Fantastic product. My keys no longer poke holes in my pocket & thigh, and they no longer jingle around when I'm walking.
A couple of critiques though:
(1) The provided screws are too short in my opinion. It can hold only 5 keys total as-is. So I went to my local hardware store to buy longer 1-inch screws (#6-32 if I remember correctly) as well as more nylon washers, and now it can hold 13 keys. And of course it can hold even more keys if you buy even longer screws, but I would generally advise against using screws longer than 1.5 inches.
(2) It is sometimes difficult to reach for the exact key you want. You have to pry at it with your fingernail, and sometimes you will lift the adjacent keys together with it. So I wouldn't recommend this for people who need to access their keys frequently (e.g. janitors) because it will get tedious after a while. This is more for someone who has a lot of locks/assets and must keep their keys with them at all times, but otherwise uses them infrequently.
Not recommended for car keys. First, the key head is probably too thick if you're driving a 1995+ model year. Second, you probably won't have enough clearance to turn the ignition, as the KeySmart might hit the steering column. Third, the additional weight of keys hanging from your ignition will cause accelerated wear of the locking mechanism.

Brilliant!

Ignore the negative reviews. I've been using this smart key holder thingy daily for 3 months and I have yet to experience the loosening of keys, a screw post breaking, keys too long, etc. This thing is well thought out and well made. I work with metals and I can tell you that KeySmart was masterful in keeping this strong while minimizing weight. My only regret is limiting myself with the 8 key capacity. Simple set up... stack your keys on the posts and insert the screws.
A few tips:
1) even short keys will not fit end to end, you have to offset them;
2) use the little rubber grommets, they keep the screws tight;
3) know your requirements... I put 7 keys and the loop piece on an 8 key holder.
4) put a ring on the loop piece for your car key. It's too bulky to fit on the screws.
Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes, and you're my friend.

GOOD ORGANIZER

Kind of a novel product, especially if you are used to all of your keys jangling in your pocket. This pretty much organizes everything into a neat package, but I would be hard pressed to put eight keys in it and then into your pocket. It would work well for a purse with that many keys. I have 3 keys in the slide, and a key fob hanging off of the end, very much like the picture, and it works very well. This is a good item to have, and I would recommend the purchase.
GREAT PRODUCT - FOLLOW ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS!!

KeySmart - Compact Key Holder (Extended Blue)
Ok, so, here's the deal. This is a great product. And before I get into it, I want to make it clear that 1) I did NOT receive anything free to leave a review and 2) I hardly ever leave reviews, so it's pretty impressive to me when I feel I want to leave a review.
Now for the product. It is everything it says it is. Let me address a couple of common concerns I see floating around in the reviews:
1) The keys are too loose, They just flop around with no friction.
1A) Ok, so for this I can assure you it's assembler error. If you assemble this thing according to the instructions, it will function EXACTLY as it's meant to function. I know exactly what these people with this complaint did. They did NOT use the proper length of screw, OR they did not use the spacers to ensure that you can get a tight fit with the screws. You MUST tighten down both sides evenly and with enough pressure to create friction. The screw WILL BOTTOM OUT in the standoff if you don't do this.
2) After awhile, the keys loosen up and just flop around. I keep having to tighten the screws constantly.
2A) Ok, so for this one, they didn't make sure the tiny rubber grommet was under the screw head when tightening down. They most assuredly left it out. You CANNOT DO THIS! Those grommets ensure that the screws DO NOT LOOSEN UP over time. And they also give you the freedom to select the tension you want. I assembled this exactly as instructed. And I have yet to have it loosen up at all. Period.
And that's it. As for the other questions like "I can't get enough keys on the holder" etc....There is an extension kit you can purchase to take care of extension needs. Just do some homework before complaining.
This is a GREAT PRODUCT! And you will NOT be sorry. I love mine. I got 3 of them to keep all my keys separated between work and home. Really nice purchase. Just follow the instructions to a "T". Do not think it's too simple to read instructions. Because, as some of the reviewers will prove here, it IS possible to screw up assembly.
